he will turn that on so we're beginning to record so Christy do you want to run the meeting I'll call to order at 11 or 3 and then I'll pass it over to you okay so we have a long list of policies that we want to address the next time we got together and Kayla this is your first policy meeting correct yes it's nothing special call if you sometimes it just a matter of reaffirming and you know sometimes there's some big at it and what we try to do it in your dry there should be drafts of everything that we're going to be talking about it you guys all right yeah they did a good job getting everything together so a lot of work on her part but she did a good job so I don't know if you want to start with the last one which is JLS because cuz that was one that we had not finalized last time but only for because that's child abuse reporting and he should be a part of that be g b e d j i c that all regarding tobacco and everything else what we want to do is do you know if he's going to example of the School Board Association policy with that and we just want to be sure that it has all of the anger and it covers you no chewing tobacco vaping stuff he liquid stuff so I think of the things pretty much match up if I remember correctly and with all three policies should be identical if they're just different parts of the handbook you know cuz the section AVC and so they just all should be in if it's like let me get my notes up on I've been trying to it I told you we had to scratch like I shared it with you last time and we have been trying to keep that up to date or just let on it right now so you'll have a and it's what I did is created them and they have been working on it together it's a spreadsheet with just the different sections so that you know we can see the work as we go by section I just got it good you know to do with a tobacco in all that is I think it's just a matter of getting them all and sink looks like we approved 8 on November 4th of 1903 of them the sample policy from the School Board Association and should have we should be adding I think pretty much the same thing but we should be adding to the policy to refer to these other policy so therefore when we're teaching about it that we are using the same definitions were using the same and Haitian bokor so we'd be adding the the kid in the policy the same padding you know the the related policies talk about a i h a m i a right now and and then because of legal references and everything else are the only one that's not in there is but they recommend is on one 3E to which is substitutive educational content on an adequate education and that's basically it's just an RSA same but you have to you know what substitute content is meaning of meaningful so I don't know if you want to add that one reference all right and did you have anything else you want to add on that we've been talked about the first four policies iban you're muted Oklahoma tobacco correct yeah yep I just trying to make sure that they all kind of like a line with each other cuz there seems to be so spot whole teas and I was trying to understand what each of those were but yeah but just going to different sections of a handbook but those three the first three policy should be identical and they just have a different and they required by law the only thing is I'm not sure all three of them have liquid liquid in there that liquid nicotine nicotine but they don't have e liquid we might want a bat in and make sure all three of them have it that has been probably that not being alive and it Perkins I don't think we play never but I don't believe that a huge issue but certainly with our older population Novena trying in a best friend what is the liquid in it is been very very challenging e-cigarette or do we need to add liquid nicotine I think policy I don't know if you want to add the quote about what an E-liquid is Western bald on the he look at the School Board Association they've mouthpiece element a battery and electronic circuits designed or used to deliver any or Allies or vaporize substance including but not limited to nicotine or cannabis device may include but is not limited to hookah e-cigarettes East gar e pipe vape pen e Hookah as well as I don't know if I'm saying that right as well as any other object or is defined by the statute I'm getting a whole education but do you want to add when is well that one is not as critical but I probably is good idea with seems like the devices this policy is going to be in effect for a. Of time two devices might change in a while so I think it's good to try and you have a blanket description and that seems to do it yeah yeah it certainly is DHS Mia ignorance is bliss but I guess we just should ask a kid with old names right all right so we'll do that and so and we'll get those all together and then Dan just bring up the speed zi Hamma was we want to make sure we had best educating your kit the kids so that you were you know who had the right policies they had them all listed in reference under in just add that event quality is fine but just adding the references and so the relay policy for that you are educating kids and help class or whatever that you know people realize what the fault you know what the stuff means that would be appropriate ending on if we have losing words today are program that dub and Justin does those topics gif open to-do in CEI level you know the help topics that you know why kids doesn't have to be a separate class we still have to teach help the other angle that you might want to explore Gwinnett and numb at some point and touch Brandy on about is using you know there's a program that you can purchase a classroom teachers can do and she's been using that I think still so I don't know about this year cuz I'm the supervising Chesterfield but she's used it very successful in the past and it isn't something that you know like you know you'd only have to do like three levels you know sort of you know like and it's not expensive is like a newsletter you can save them and use them year after year because I think sometimes even Justin like I'm might not be and he may get involved in this in and actually just a field we may have more experience the most PE teachers if you know I think you know teacher scientifically usually comfortable with all this and so if you can get him something that they can lean on and it really helps them all the time but then the nurses start taking more active Berlin teaching Stone I don't think that's in Franklin I just can't remember the name of it alright so did we just knock off a few like yeah that's the first four then we have our favorite daf and what was sent to you was number four five and number six and Justice usual what we did is I think it is and Keene said before the last time we meet they've been doing a really good the betting the recent remember the policy that all came down from the state because when we had our audit for Grants are federal audit at the State of New Hampshire did not do very well on it not public knowledge but a lot of things are out of compliance they came out with all these policies that we needed to adopt and like I said came you know I've been kind of just waiting for King cuz I've been bedding and wordsmithing them pretty well and so that's what they put on there where is it says it contains everything School Board Association has and then been bored by the King School District so did you have a chance to look at those at all yeah and I don't know if the if you did invite you know the first one BF4 has to do with anything to do with food service is a conflict of interest during the closing disclosures and Bad Company it's more to you know  well you're doing grant work you know you can't have you know you can't can't be a conflict of interest of Grants and then you know they management of federal funds so this is all related to anything that we do grants it's like that Secret deodorant to my wife's practice it  to be a process you have to go through conflict of interest before like it's as far as all Food Services and just a vessel album wants to know. American so basically where we contract you know King Food Service to you know run Marlow's program she has to follow up boss 1614 anyway and if it's a different conversation we're able to find a milk cooler doggy for a thousand dollars but it's a scratch and dent and I checked it out with Scott he's like hey let's go for it so the question then became that rafting in the play can we we get the feeling I think I'm sure it's only perception that we're getting milk the day that the label says sell by even though it doesn't mean it's expired there's a mental hurdle there for kids can can we ask HUD to do a delivery like I guess I got that many of the town's get milk delivered directly to them not from King yeah and I think part of that is whether or not there's a route I would they first start with Lindy and or or have Scott in a look into that and that the reason that you like Harrisville does that but they're going to the General store then it's easier and then they also prepare even though they are managed biking Food Service they're preparing their food on-site all of it and so therefore you know that they have food deliveries. you know I'm and in the same as you know Chesterfield part of the issue is you're getting all your you know stuff from Keene and is being prepared in Keene with you and Nelson are a little different than everybody else and I I think it's a possibility but I wouldn't know chocolate one day and then Scott and I'll just see if that's something that's doable I just don't know where a milk truck would be going by necessarily on a regular basis its leg work on this earlier gilsum surfboards close though. So our next closest one is actually the Goshen store so but the thing is our cooler capacity will I think it'll hold 4 to 8 crates nope or whatever so like we could get one delivery for a week yeah I may not be within the cost may be prohibitive though yeah so they stole so it soda you would have to take on like the billing and stuff for that we wouldn't to say team you know we're going to we're going to work out the delivery well are you going to be necessarily remember your programs being managed by Kane and his forces Lindy's job to try to stay budget so you know like and that that's the you know you know because I don't contribute to the hot lunch program self-sustaining right we don't have a number that was what that big argument or discussion was about that pass through account for $56,000 or whatever it was I mean you're not paying like an Harrison they pay a huge amount of money to subsidize their program I know and you know and they have all these deliveries and all these other things so I don't think you know how I don't remember seeing a budget item you know like it would comes in comes out I don't think we're I don't think we're using tax dollars to support it we don't have a okay so if we're not doing that mean Lenny is trying to keep you within a budget so you know that you know if that would add to your car and I guess the other thing you could explore to Dan is requesting that milk not be delivered that. it is expired that is always a couple days ahead of time they can look at the containers and and send you something that's not cuz I have it there is that mental I know I just like my husband says don't buy any thinks it's gone you know I do understand kids you know if I get paranoid about that if that if it sits on a transferred in a cooler and it's not maintained at a specific temperature all the time so you keep its is going to expire and I think that you know I think that's a reasonable request at the very least and something to Carolyn and Scott you want to keep me in the loop you can let me know how are we good with a three policies so far I'll preview for 5 and 6 because we're all here doing this when we have our next meeting to go over policies can it be considered first and second and then be approved yeah yeah yeah all right when we get all them done will you know I can get that done discussing we might want to do a formal as some suggestions I think you're in compliance with spell 103 and all the 2017 laws that were passed and I just I think we just wanna make sure you're still okay with it and in the one reason I brought it up is because I'm thinking the crisis of the women's crisis center in the work that you know how you know Dan have had to notify parents when they do that and I know that it was a concern that came up at the board at one point someone says that you know that is very specific when it says no less than two weeks in advance of the curriculum course material the one is presented on human sexuality blah blah blah and I don't think that the Marlow policy is that specific enough and I think that's from the discussion I remember we had a I don't know if it was last year or the year before especially around the human sexuality excetera I thought maybe you would like to have the more specific language I think that's fine I don't have ejected that we did it about a month early last year we offered a parent night and we had Flyers available as well if it couldn't make the parent night we gave a lot of notice to that I think we had two people show up and what they they are very good about wanting to support those sessions and so we were transparent trip turn on that very early on and so I'm fine with having the two week notice that's fine and I think that that paragraph and the next to the last level two paragraphs are the only thing that the School Board Association has that are not in the Marlow policy and I think that it that makes the last paragraph that said parents who wish for particular instructional materials review for May submit a request for review in accordance with Casey and I ham the policy we just talked about no I made it again I think that's going to be specific about that goes in a Long Island time frame is that the program that we currently use is a week-to-week program and information about the current week call Big isn't sent out two weeks in advance am I right not how we we don't provide what we haven't provided details on every lesson every topic is shared and there is like a sequence but it's not going to like what they're going to give the lesson plans out to yes that's fine that's how that's that's what we got from them last time that will be important that bad the complete outline and if they vary from that is going to be giving enough notice though and if they need to stay the agenda and if they don't then they're going to have to stop and notify parents was the first year that I had that experience I sat in on a every single one at every grade level because I wanted to know what it was going to be and what it looks like and they gave Dave stick to the script I mean it's a scripted program that they have and there's not a lot of them every conversation that we talked about was you know that I discussed with them was about I think was about gender issues or something like I adore you know and I just said you know that's that's not a topic that we really want all ready to open up at our Pre-K K you know whatever and so they they took that under advisement and they didn't they only address something question came up so how we feeling about that one I think we can add the time in two weeks time frame and then the extra piece that you would just mention very good I look good with that sounds good the next one I had case character and citizenship and again that's for the 2016 and 2017 the policy was updated the policy review when that since on the other Marla one that says 61120 think that's when you reaffirmed everything because at the now that's our meeting what am I doing some of them got updated when you guys me from your policy now that's not it so many ways is very different so I don't have a chance to compare the to the School Board Association and you're and the mile on one I didn't do that one no no k so if you think that are different if you're looking at the Maryland policy I can just tell you the things that are different Christian that would help you if you look at Marlo let me know when you're ready okay go ahead so one thing is that it is pursuant to article part 2 article 83 the New Hampshire Constitution Humanity benevolence and truth and honesty with self and others that's one thing that's added to the character and citizenship education is what it is is educating Kara during citizenship the then it has fairness integrity and justice then it goes into respect courtesy and he Kenworth community service and then pursuant to 1 RSA 186 colon 13 the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and then eat you out and then it goes to which is number one arm Arlo each individual has dignity and worth than a free Society was the same individual right to learn is the same and then there's additional one that is each individual regardless of H gender race Creed color religion marital status sexual orientation National or ethnic origin or disability has the right to an equal opportunity today's recent events and very and then it goes to back to Marlow's number 5 which is individual rights personal Liberties and then it has a new one which is each individual is responsible for hers and his or her own actions and should exercise self-discipline where and when appropriate new one and then it goes back to each individual has a responsibility number 7 and then a democratic government number 8 benign the same tennis the same and 11 / same and and 12 the same so basically it adds five new and frankly I'd encourage you to support it because I think in today's world was a critical no they all are good additions to the the policy there's nothing yes I agree okay good enough I already so we're doing pretty good here and I had to thanks for Jay for her help as always we asked if we had to have these policies that were high school email like not are not nothing at Perkins nothing in Marlow and you do have to have a policy that said something and so I K awarding High School Credit basically says that whatever the key board of education do I size 14 High well you know that's my Lowe's policy the basically that's how it work and that does cover what we have to do you know their School Board Association policies in at the huge policy about it you know there's no point in our articulating at the forget the keyboard changes that then we have to change it so we just we have to buy but what came does because of the area agreement well it's kind of like your area agree means that you're Contracting Keene Hine EPS the whole bunch of yes basically in so whatever they do for credit that's been a huge thing right now because right now they're working on you know if you've been following I think they brought it up kinds of the SIU meetings and I think they are yeah they may have Extended Learning opportunities and so kids can getting credit for like a if you know like sports in the big intention and if it's the way that they're trying to do that through the Extended Learning opportunity it's public knowledge I think now but Nancy Rafferty was hired as the yellow teacher she was the integration specialist of the middle school and yeah I got hired to do that job so this will be the first time that had a boy in this position but I ought to be really helpful in helping kids you know what alternative is that you know that are viable in the boiler learning opportunities getting credit for and the keyboard is established a policy to go with Dad about kids how that works but I think you know such at the high school level and you know you know that Karen just from you know your kids going through that we need to be flexible with kids in today's world and and figure out ways acknowledge their learning and different you know differ Avenues and I'm really excited about this yellow stuff it was supposed to happen last year we had grant money for it but just never got pulled off and with people eat just going to get some of that fellow position and unfortunately Nancy stepped up to the plate and then she'll do it job some videos of that kind of stuff about the great things for kids in Newport with that program who makes a huge difference so those are the kinds of things that you would be Rihanna with Credit Unit getting credit that you know like for us you know like hopefully you're staying informed about these options somehow but you know I like again that you know like you know change the station to answer your question okay it's still the Marlow policy which means we put our approval on that we could have just said we could have we could in fact create a policy that doesn't agree that will create a bunch of headaches but we are actually the ones who are saying yes we agree with that. I understand it in this aspect I was just curious if we had a policy about Behavior or both like it's some sort of policy that we have that can also has star burning a slightly different they would go by the teen policy for the Middle School in high school but I just wanted to make sure that you don't why's that that's how that would work yeah I think your ER agreement though that you've got to follow their policies in to make sense you know like when incidents happen set alarm all right so we're good with that one okay and basically the same thing for early graduation same kind of think so is that work okay for everybody Anna high school graduation one as i k f a and the next one which is i l v a a and that has to do with graduation competencies now follow the I think you know Jen Logan at right I think it'd be a re a meeting in the fall scented and I think there are three different ways you can not get a king high school and the dentist feeding and Keen the state requirements for graduating so there are different you know I'm a bit of clearly articulated the and the de plumbers Albany or exceeds a state standard so you know I'm biking was had a diploma requirement that exceeded the state standards and what was difficult for some kids to achieve but she's all that is somewhat yeah yeah cuz this class will be the last class graduate that doesn't have that option I believe right yeah yeah now he was being felt that it was so unfair because everyone else is getting it easier than not everybody but cuz they right now there's gatekeeping you can't just opt out of a that's what I told him it's not like you can just say this is what I'm going to do yeah you got to go through a process to lower the bar a little all right so have a good with ilba all right and then the tuition one so I think we should spend some time on that one as far as especially the rates if you want to change them this one requires an annual review and even though you can leave it alone cuz you did reaffirm all your policies but you know I think in and we can just updated with that date would have other meeting that was but I didn't know if you want to take a look at your tuition rates and make sure it says what you want to say it's all about you and Perkins and you know I I know Dan you did have one request but from asada parent right for this year dog dissolved I'm not heading to have been no follow-up on that at all other than won't come back but we reached out a couple of times and there has been no and I think it had to do with the expectation of us providing transportation we were going to do not going to happen so that's on that one increase the rate yep you can increase that you yeah did you do in 2019 right and we just grandfather then the person who was there before that's correct is that person gone she's going to she's going to go to lunch dinner for 7 and 8 graduate to graduate if we don't have anyone after this year after Monday that situation student correction first grader that lives in a District but is closer to us that that district is paying the full $22 if you know that but not a that this policy is not the best of not cover I know what district you're talking about the one that sends their kids other places that they lived closer yep they should be paying the full tuition right they do that with other school supplies M22 because I'm more of a choice kind of thing you know I'll parent choice thousand dollars and what is a hairstyle or Nelson I have Harrison has affordable choice Nelson has some to Amy I think you're probably one of the highest ones I could tell you them now second but I thought last time when we talked about this we were trying to come in a similar range is others but not too you're not out of the ballpark at was a lot of demand maybe we could do it but mine was snow they haven't they haven't Revisited that policy they have another policy meeting so I don't anticipate what they could it still be in the doctor to weigh in on whether another appropriate for school could you say something like in the absence of a recommendation you would be admitted on a trial. Or a number five is a child. I guess if that's the I mean at 3 to Zach up to any student at any time if in its opinion except used it will not be the best in show Christy where our agreement at the bottom says you know don't think about after 30 days call or within this within 30 days I don't know if you can legally do that or not yeah. Talk to those 30 days what about on 30 day 32 to be a problem do you know I don't know I guess maybe that's when you get when you get hired most people have a 90 day. And anytime you needed for but I do think that's a little fishes adding too much to and I think it's weird it's always going to be a risk when you take tuition students but again you know like if you have it even if set 90 days or whatever you said Aaron could legally get away with that I think you know like on the kid may be turning the corner and you know I don't know if we should be in the business of taking kids and then being exclusive if they if in our job is to work with him and do the best with give me I would say that you know like they would be something that you know you'd be working with a home District because their responsibilities don't go away because of parent chooses to summon to another school and I'm in free samples they weren't identified kid they still have responsibilities and the other thing would be you know like in to say the end of the others didn't work out and leave them on and but it is always going to be a rest and I just you know like either either we do whatever we don't you know like you know I don't think you're going to like it could have a trauma that happened Sunday 65 and changes their entire world and and Nelson Owen Perkins teacher say I don't know that has hard time giving up on a kid you know I think you know at the end of the year you know you got this just as clearly not working and raising Havoc or whatever it's at some logical Point parents would want out if it wasn't working I think is there something I mean to what Dan is saying that if they're in if they're not in a preschool program and they're not in any type of learning environment where someone could write a recommendation preschools not required kindergarten is not required should it be limited to first through sixth grade because they're not required in some students did not have those opportunities or their parents choose not to send them so I mean like what if we have a Pre-K classroom with five kids are for kids in it you know do we do we do when and if someone wanted the tuition their kid in and pay the $4,000 do we the watch will all that because they would still if it's pretty tidy still have to transport anyways if they're twisting in them in they have to transport no matter what cuz we're not seitan I guess that's the only thing I stole been looking at the enrollment numbers from the past few years and stuff in the pit Violette number to still bounce a little bit too so the other thing you have remember if people are looking for an alternative school in the reasons that they would be choosing Perkins you know where some of the other things you do with broken and I when you know the unique things we know the way now then play a outdoor Bass Staffing Lincoln Illinois Small in a class environment you know with all the positive reasons they did they want them there for all 7 years they went want them or 8 they wouldn't want them just to go for necessarily just for a couple are even less so I don't know you know like another word you know they could Christy but you know I don't know if you start with first grade that you might miss if they were repairing i e might miss somebody I just mean in the nothing we're only going to the first through sixth grade that we only need a letter of recommendation okay because those other grades are not required though someone who didn't go to kindergarten that means they didn't go to any preschool could come in the kindergarten. Outer recognition that's not a bad idea so no student shall be admitted under this policy and grades one through  without a written recommendation from Ferdinand but I didn't again the one I don't know by 1st grade cuz if kindergarten I know some places well I guess say it again you broke up I was just going to say yeah I think you'd want to say too because some some kids wouldn't do you want to say if the if the child has been in school you'd want that information for pre-k k I would say that it's not required for those students but recommended if they had a but only required for 2 to 6 if you didn't have that education level then you know we can't require something that they they didn't have but you don't want to alienate them as well. not the only Council that didn't have a current handbook and you know what I'm saying before that I had collected everybody's handbooks and then his town principles we were going to go through them if we're in remote learning if we're in a hybrid or if we're back as to normal what that will look like so I think you know that those committees will start and that would come under Logistics you know like if we need to you know do something differently are buildings when and if they do reopen there's something to think about or just not far enough along to have details on a debt I am so an article that said that the Department of Education is looking at the end of June for the time frame on the survey that they sent out to give guidance is that accurate who knows I'm not holding my breath and I think you know as well that was a pretty cumbersome survey and he's you know be sure that he has information he feels he needs to help guide you know what is that is that of an individual
