and Greg i'm don't use them a lot so that's why I've got to praise you by the way I'm a virgin and have the privilege of working with a Harris. sorry Greg I'm on the school board of Harrisville I have a couple of grandchildren if the school system and Sabi goggin play swell I'm Greg ivy I had two daughters that we're going there now we switch them over and still live in town here so all right clarity yes please so for policies are all the numbered ones and the first one 2003 is bloodborne pathogens enough should be the top your package you said it to you and Greg if you again these are on the website that I just described if you want to follow along to cuz some of these you can see on the website some of them but we are here now that is not a policy that is required to have as separate because you know we have all these other health policies that we have that include what is you know like working with blood-borne pathogens the policy that you have band of the year 2003 has Nina was kind of like you know back in the 90s I believe it is when you know we were concerned about HIV at first and all and I think it's 92 was when it was passed as a very old I heard under a lot of everything in here is covered under Health policies that are elsewhere in the and your handbook however some districts have chosen to keep it and if there is a letter that goes with it so if you feeling that you want to keep the policy there two things I would suggest that we brought in it do you know again not just say is this one was as bloodborne pathogens HIV AIDS and get rid of that I just a blood-borne pathogens and we can change it to a letter I think if we want it but we do not need to have it as a separate policy I seen it's pretty well covered in our age policy and what everything like that Kate do you think we need to keep it I don't think that it would it may be covered but it's often a nice way for us to review and provide some professional development around as a refresher or new staff and current staff if you looked at the one that the health policy the one that covers that yeah I I just it does cover it and it would be redundant in a lot of ways so are there pieces that you feel cuz we were I mean if we're going to keep this we're going to have to change some of the language cuz they're not called universal precautions are called standard precautions and there's a lot of language that changes I hear which itself says that you have to review annually with the other policy I mean as long as line item for line item is covered in the other policy then I would feel comfortable combining the two Conns on NES Nino side effects resulting consequences if we do combine them. I don't think we have that one hanging on there's a whole bunch of policies that go with safety that we don't have them in next month we want to tackle them because there is one and I don't know how many of them are required but there's one on an emergency don't they're all recommended none of them are required by there are Crisis Prevention and response prevention and emergency response plan fire drills bomb threats emergency closing school closings and then we you have a pandemic and epidemic emergencies but there is five policies and if you wanted to tackle them cuz you'd like to have but none of them are required believe it or not so I'm Aquarius you got to remember I think may have talked about it but you are required to have an emergency operation plan and that is the same you know that has as much power of these policies do you know you required to have one and have it on record with the state we we we update that regularly are and then we update that based on the tree that we do and feedback from staff so you know I can't I think you know the bomb threats is one that's been singled out and if you want to keep those and develop the other ones because you think that helps me do my that whole process clear which there is some Merit to that we can put those on a future agenda I think that would help yeah I think it would be a good idea and I think that you know that was very helpful and they gave us some really good guidelines and end language so the new version of this I haven't seen it yet either but this one you know if you and I'll have this this is exactly gives you what you're supposed to do I don't know if you realize that our every classroom supposed to have this posted and if I've seen it somewhere because of his diabetes that he was so we 2019 I think we're the last changes to the home education policy and they basically goes through you know what's required you know it when you know the whole idea of a written notice you know like about to be questioning that. what is the withdrawal from the school district and you know what the you know what what the intention is and is Elvis there's no annual notice rips require do you know once you remove yourself you don't have to do any dates you know you're basically out unless you want to come back I'm just moving to another location cuz I yellow signal signal okay, I can hear you okay Daddy in that policy it's an infection after regarding co-curricular activities we would come across this a few times families have reached out to do because they've heard Mount that were offering certain extracurricular activities is there any responsibility on our part to promote that somewhere in a public place where they may be a reality check it doesn't make website you know or at least there isn't a lot of information on there about those co-curricular activities to let them know I have a few we have made a commitment you note to a parent if someone asked you and telling them where they can find it or if you know like if you know it's obviously nice to have a good relationship with your homeschool and do you like if you have eyes like a newsletter or something you want to send them or whatever that's that's an okay thing to do but you're not required to okay thank you but you are required to attend class let's say they're file for homeschooling but they were checkr music they have every right to and I'm yeah basically in one thing that is not when home when they first device that you know like it's interesting cleric play 30 years ago in New Hampshire and there was a no regulation for homeschooling in fact it was not an option it was against the law and so that you know what then we happen to have and are not in Harrisville button Nelson there were some know do what you know like have a teacher review they are certified person redo that work it was very very intense the gun and then course the state has gone to now this very little control in fact with some older kids unfortunately with what they basically do is drop out there at this so little accountability that they Cinestar homeschool and do a good job is great stuff and I support it but that's one reason why it's kind of nice to keep them connected to the school so you can help and support them and and they didn't know still feel connected but you know I'm fortunately some of our older happen more I think in the city than it has in our town and the way to drop out because of the lack of accountability so if you know you know and again you know him the Buddy used to be that you know by days to have to let you know pass an assessment things you notice on the King School District when it talks about evaluation assessment you know that they are having title to take any assessments that you're offering and unfortunately when it comes to like aimsweb plus because the kids have to be roster. Unless they're doing something at our school that's not what we can do to help them cuz they're not dually enrolled but they're not on a roster but they can do FAS and I'm so anyway you want to do anyway India policy for a little bit of luck for a little while okay I don't know if your okay with us you know just so you know going along with a keen the one that's how it's written in Keene well that's where he ended up have all the up-to-date stuff in it Catered Affair to you on this one you know the more details than what you have to do but it was pretty comprehensive your unit cleaning looks like they've done a good job cleaning that up and bring for a strong policy it is not up to date so I wouldn't recommend keeping that all right so we'll go with the Kings policy all right so that will live with next one school safety and the one that's in the and my website is mm 55 and we do have EVD and I think that is on our web page and it is it's one we just did I think a little while ago and so we wake me 2055 anymore that's basically why that's on the agenda September 7th at 1 please okay already all right look at my notes down here Nexus summer activities this is required it is very no delete references are the only thing that is new and we don't have this current policy andaz controversial and it also but I don't know how Kate you feel about that and if you want to bring anything differently but I'm basically would do is require you to have a like a and most schools do this like I'm summary unless maybe going to summer activity where you know kids you know like take a picture of yourself reading and you know book and you know something that encourages kids to continue their learning over the summer on nothing too substitute as far as you know like it doesn't have to be anything big and it encourages it's not mandatory because I know a lot of our families use that time for their own enrichment and and Binoo and the whole purpose of it is just to make sure that you're thinking of the board saying that they encourage learning to continue what you think we all do good with that send the next 1K if if you kind of if you can look at the agenda going to kind of skip around a little bit because if you look at ihcd lb which is advanced coursework advanced play courses stem and dual concurrent enrollment and then skip down to ik which is earning a credit ikf which is high school graduation ikf a early graduation lbaa which is high school graduation, but it sees I am busy which is alternative credit options and IMBD high school credit for 7th request work those have to deal with KMS KHS cuz you don't have Middle School and High School however you're still obligated to have parasols to obligated to have policies that govern them so if you look at the mall and then you look at there were a couple drafts of in the packet of what Marlow has son Marlo yep GIF of Kfar was a sample of what Marlow it done with early graduation all of these policies all they have to really say they don't have to have detail but you know our friend Jay put together for a month from the School Board Association all we have to say is it seems like it would be the Harrisville policy in accordance with KFA early graduation established by the Board of Education High School where students attend so all we have to say is that our kids go to Keene high or King Middle and we're going to follow their procedures you are anyway that's what you're going to do cardi b a r e Harrisville has can have some info but you know that they can't tell King High out of their program in Harrisville school board that we approve of what they do yes and they have for them the reason you want that on the board is you know like it's important but you know that you know your community knows that the board is embracing the Annabelle the relationship between the District so what we would do is take all the ones I just talked about i h c d i k i k f i k f a i l b a a i m b c i n b b b m l b one for each one and just say the Harrisville policies in accordance with each of those and established by the King School Board and the one thing I know Jay included a mob or one on if you if you have that in your packet and it was on something 8th grade chorus or just throw it out because you got to remember Marlboro does have a 7th and 8th grade we do not in Harrisville I was wondering about that I thought so it'll be the same for that one too for sew-in and frankly right now there is no King School Board is actually working as we speak on a policy that may govern that cuz currently Keene Middle School day there's no credit for any classes and some 3/8 grade there is a provision in the statues that allow for it but they don't have a policy right now and they are working on that and it's it's one of those debates if you want kids to have it on they're actually in the process of having that debate but we would be obligated to follow whatever they came up with you know what kids can take classes that would make them that they would have to take three simple they could take he likes algebra one is a key middle student and not take out everyone that came High you know they're there Provisions around if they don't get credit for it right now but I'd recommend to still do the policy in or so that we're in whatever King does we're in with whatever they want you know sorry kids can take advantage of so it's all one in the same that makes sense if it doesn't what I can do is beg bring back for each of these policies what what I'm suggesting I mean it's just really didn't have time to do it for this one but it's the gist of it is what reprinting orders in the game looking at the mall again if we can just go to the website okay so we'll print out know what it says and see how you feel about it it has to do with family and Community Partnerships excuse me Janice the required policy and again you know it doesn't dictate anything that encourages open houses and other practices that doesn't say that has to be are you you know it just never suggested ways of establishing relationships I think we do these things and I feel that if parents don't participate often it's their choice not our choice absolutely yeah I can't imagine you said this is required though. It it is a required pause against set the stage that the school is part of the community so can you elaborate a little bit about the defining the standards for involvement between schools in a community is that what they're implying is listed in the subsequent paragraphs yeah we doing is giving you suggestions on how to meet us okay so for example when they say support area businesses agencies faith-based organizations will be sought through financial services Cypress sample if you had one you know they did their kite thing and stuff like that you should take advantage of working well what you're doing is she with us celebrating 204 you know a hundred fifty years of Harrisville you know like those are Partnerships and I think Clara said well then you're already doing it was just telling you you should be doing that you have to do it I mean I know that the the sample policy does elaborate that the term current refers to other family members however I I feel pretty strongly that could we just list parent / Guardian because they often that alienates individuals who are not immediately related to the family who are also in that taking part that guardianship rule yep are you can also you could either do that or you could say families but it does that's fine too how you like to do it so parent would be a parent Guardian yes please if it's possible fence and I hear what you're saying because even though you know when you know the inferences when you are the parent if you're the guardian but you know I got a lot of Ed know that's a fine line with for a lot of people I think we did this already so it's it's nice to spell it out that we need to do it but I I don't have any objections to it at this point Johnny there was one soon as I said that I found something opportunities are provided to assist with homework it be back to teachers do parents can help improve skills can you explain what other school districts might have been doing in regards to opportunities to assist with homework example Gina when Keen women you met Ben Franklin at the time when they went to Eureka Math they did some parent workshops sometimes has happened through title one but when I especially when you have a new program or a new you know I Can Fly had gotten in front of knowing that we're going to have and that would have been nice to have had some training on seesaw and online resources which is something we might want to do post-pandemic when we can get people in person because I don't see no we're still going to use these I can't imagine you are not using them now that we have some success with him even when we have kids in person so you know I think those are the kinds of things we're talking about cuz I don't know if you follow like I'm with demonstrated success now they're constantly offering any workshops for parents you know I'm going to be for example for a remote learning on YouTube videos and how to do you know like you see or do this or do that so it doesn't mean earlier coming up with a training but it's just in a making sure there are opportunities for it and I think you know that's probably one of the most important parts of this because sometimes I'm just wondering if that can be combined elaborate that following paragraph a little bit further cuz it talks about parent workshops but I think those Workshop should also there could be a way that maybe we wordsmiths to combine the two paragraphs so give me an idea opportunities or or maybe even parents are encouraged to attend school sponsored workshops to learn about ways to assist with academic instruction how parents can help parents Guardians and support and improve skills and safety nutrition and help something like that we can combine that smoked short paragraph with the first sentence in the paragraph number for I think we're talking about the same thing I just don't want it to be murky where it is interpreted that way where were assisting with the process of completing homework or or assisting you do link I think back to I facilitated a homework club when I worked at Chesterfield but I don't want I want to see the trainer model versus interpreted as that's what we're offering for programming that don't I don't think that we're heavy on the homework here anyway maybe I'm reading too much into it I think the reason that paragraph is separate isn't everything there is all related into what kids do at home to show skill development at you know through assessments okay you know cuz supposedly homework supposed to reinforce skill development right and letting teachers know in a feedback is there are there tools by which you know what I'm just thinking like and the middle school we had a system by which of the kid he know they were there was some guy for homework that was always you kids were supposed to spend they had the whole thing it was on black and then it was a system by which the parents supposed to give feedback if the kid spent more than 15 minutes on it and you know NY the wooden what they were struggling with or what they were doing they were supposed to tell the kids to stop working right that's the kind of thing as those systems and those are a little different than when you're looking at the breast is more content to follow what I'm saying the third paragraph it looks to me as more like you know how to communicate where is an egg paragraph is content cuz I gave him when you get down he would communicate with them and their primary language is another policy that deals with that cuz of english-as-a-second-language esol but you know even if you had a parent obligated to you know of provide you know information to them in their native tongue is another policy that oversees that you know we can combine the two is your concern more that it looks like it's too heavy like it cuz homework I stands out there that what you're thinking of instruction that were also trying to focus on being reinforced at home like habits of mind and you know self-regulation skills and social most often labeled as that so I'm just maybe trying to work meth how how about just swapping the two pair for the down you know the order do you know I give you the fourth paragraph talks about what you just talked about social other resources that serve families with a community as well as in all of your wallet is everything you just said what if you were to put that suit paragraph in before throughout the year and so today and then read some book if it's a match communication the primary language what about starting a new paragraph there parents are encouraged that sentence opportunities are provided to godparents and then they can you paragraph It's reasonable efforts are made to communicate in the language so you wouldn't have a huge paragraph you would have to middle-sized paragraphs that's you know I just talked about who what parent means and maybe maybe to you want that sentence for the purpose of this policy to turn parent refers to any adult Mother Father older sibling adult you know how Uncle Grandpa Guardian Mentor plays a significant role in the care of his dude about in the district schools can we strike that and just put parent / Guardians throughout the whole policy because I really feel like our in a whip we're really trying to support the whole child not just the the traditional homework reinforcement of of an academic skills so it's a good suggestion clear so let me get if I get it right new be parents and Guardians are encouraged to attend school sponsor parent Guardian workshops to learn about parenting skills health safety and nutrition on Vernor topics of Child and Adolescent development throughout the school year and then would go to Opportunities provided by parents or Guardians on ways to assist with homework give feedback to teachers and how parents Guardians can help their children improve skills perform well on assessments and then would go I think we could go to students and parents will receive information regarding cultural recreational academic El social and other resources that certain families within the community and then efforts will be made in the primary language or in the language you want to take your comfortable and end with that object that he's here before I thank you rob I'd appreciate that you're the best to wait on that one because you didn't get the draft of the School Board Association and there's some changes so okay with you guys would like to put jca on the next list my next meeting all right just let me not lose track of this K KB you guys got that one are we still are we skipping I might be able to order jec is that before or after KB are we are we tabling that one because we needed Scott where can tabeling Jee Ami Jee what jec and jfab the admission of non-resident students it's not on the agenda I could but it's not on my agenda okay we can't do jfab we could do a little bit on the other but I think it's cleaner if we always have all the list on the Pali another what we're talking about our meeting okay alright so I think KB is the next one we can talk about so and that's Title One family and Community engagement Harrisville doesn't always get Title 1 funds but you did this year and you occasionally do this required for all Title One. so like it's two years ago you would have needed this policy but this year you do the timing and this is Esprit I mean and Title 1 schools these things so please clarify what's the title one school one is based on its a federal in a federally funded program and it's based on your free and reduced numbers and that's why Harris how is that some years you know like when I was one of the last couple years I was there we used to get enough to fund a very robust summer programming and run a school year program is unbelievable what we got by call based on your free and reduced lunch numbers and what happens and you know after it's been there awhile there probably are people that are too proud to file for free and reduced lunch and after she's established even a strong relationship with families it's one of those things that you wanted advertisement because it is a lot of money if if Rena was schools that you can paint over a lot of Revenue that you can, and do a lot of good thing so it's a and it when people know that that you it's all very confidential and you know nobody knows who's so I'm free and reduced lunch and there's some very you know very well you know you can get a lot more I put like I said my hair was going through a. Of time with not getting anymore and then very little money and I don't know what it was very little that you're getting this year right by then we almost have $19,000 yeah that's huge and that that that can be such you know whether you spend it on programming or where do you spend it on Personnel I mean I didn't realize you were that died this year 19000 is that carry over money too or is that just this year that's just this year we didn't receive any last year okay so if Linda Morehouse working with you when writing a grant or I was at the stages where I am hoping that somebody will collaborate with me for that alright it'll be a good one just for you to know the people that Sharon Robin and I don't know about Mark I know Sharon Robin Wright the wrong so they're good resources for you and I can certainly help you as well. Linda moorhouse is in charge of the King Grant and she might be willing to help you she's helped Elsie and and Dan Davis here thank you rob have a good night we can get that done eating some sort of Summer programming that will allow us the opportunity to continue rolling with you not necessarily catching students out but maybe revisiting instruction that they might need to see again so and you know I got if we were post-pandemic Pino there you can do a really great interactive experiential program and in a town like Harrisville you know like that families can get involved you can do your family involvement I know we used to run a summer program with themes in one year I themes and we took kids to like Ben and Jerry's and Stonewall you know about Stonyfield yogurt and all these local places and talk about the financial act acronym business Isabella's the food that woman of the year was studying the ocean and we went to the Boston aquarium went to odiorne State Park and they were families would mean that the families could come and disturb the bus and I'll go reading and writing that uniform or two week. Would be around that field trip that's me so you might want to thank you no like 20,000 will take you a long way in a summer program yeah but again it's going to be post-pandemic something. but there's so many things like I wish I'd say these because they were all well by me like we did one on Native Americans and went up the Kearsarge Museum we built these you know what's out back you know it's Nino Steiger branches out of the woods and it's an opportunity to really get kids especially cuz you you're going to have to you're not you don't have enough kids so you can't be school-wide so this has to be targeted your title it's got to go you know take care of most being a needy non special ed kids and you know work up until a certain point you know I think it'll be a nice yeah we probably should talk about that sooner rather than later because you want to get going on it and you know like getting it written and making sure you're in the time frame so you don't lose that I think I think you can carry it forward for one year we should check on that find me if I don't okay but on my list alright so anyways again you know like if you look at it now so you can feed families to come this is a perfect one to go with that other policy parenting a parent Guardian engagement because you know I can do this you know you can use Title 1 funds to get parents in and train them on things and you can feed them and make it you know they want to come and you can do I meet you mrs. it and they do some of those at Franklin when you were there were added rating you'd like you know how to play games with their kids and they have the kids come in and with a parent Steven have a stop for like a pizza night yeah yeah there was I was on the periphery of that being in Special Ed but I know Julie and Holly Ransom literacy nights and and things like that that were well-attended and they that could have been through title one that they paid for it might have been something else too but yeah are you okay with this policy I'm fine with the policy is written I think do we have to have it and it's all are you okay all right and we already talked about l e d d i h c d. high school once it's just the LED version of ihcda which of the same okay the dance course work and I think that takes us to the end my goodness almost 1 hour to minute got a good job I'd like to say that I really planned that out to get there but that was a well-orchestrated but it's luck thank you. E no tribe I know Jason our goal is to have the ones ready for the board meeting on the 25th if we can and will do our best to try to get that ready for that if we look into February you got your public hearing on the 3rd at 6 do you want to try to do something or I might be eating pending on how well and yeah I would prefer just because I don't know the format of it yet. E and what that might look like I think just that we have things copied correctly and and I prefer a different date if we can okay thank you. It's not a problem for me at all do you want to try to meet that first week in February or second week in February second week might be easier as were now that first week in February coming back so the week of the 8th would probably be the best and it looks like looks to me as far as my schedule is there still a knight player that you can't meet no I'm not tutoring anymore at the moment all right cuz it looks to me that the only after we were sticking with the for 4:30 time I could do any night that week will leave it or not I can do anything any evening Thursday the 11th I have PT until 4 so I can go straight through that's fine with me 4:30 on the 11th okay let's go for it gif with Manatee makes you may be able to join us imagine her life is very busy right now. Do you know who Eric has put forward to the next board member no I do not do you know I don't see Eric very often. Just want to cuz they have to be in fairly soon don't they yeah I'm not quite sure exactly when but can't he can't leave unless he finds a replacement right do you mean about this job for Ava yes you did Clare and let you didn't know that when you signed up we would love that player I've really found it very very interest and he's promised he's already have a better understanding of your whole school system and I've learned so much well you're you've been a very inquisitive and thoughtful enough getting these done so I mean we've done a lot of good work I think I'm going your stuff that has meetings over at 5:35 stop recording
