Mike's I apologize it was the commissioner in Subway by Diaz for the Statewide licensing on Pro accept help school districts and so he was just getting my thoughts on that whether or not you know it's a good idea or bad idea and I told him a couple times it's a good idea if you going to continue to find it but it's a bad idea if you're going to find it for a little bit and then pass it over to the local districts Bakery okay so I make a motion to approve both sets of minutes from May 8th of the public and nonprofit second all in favor Richard popovic I Derek Moran hey and lost my agenda here ain't your salary schedule thank you who is that that you Scott who presents at 1 I can present it to the floor this is what I should or earlier I believe it was April I sent the email out and then was everything was called when we never touched face on it sue the current situations that we had sent out contracts already because we had to meet the deadline they used that schedule that I created as the basis so at this point we're going to move forward with that for this year the second and third years so I would like to have the boy approve in vote on that if you are okay with those salaries are very good if you look at the comparisons and I had sent you for other districts you know is face very well and they want to continue to do that and I think that is a very fair wage scale okay I don't remember them specifically at this moment but I remember reading it thinking along the same lines if any input on that errand you want to take a minute to bring it back up or I believe it was April 7th God did you include Daddy and I lemon extract could you love dump it in the folder quickly Scott I am going to work on that I sent it recently sent that to Cathy Gray do you want to work on we could go on to the next agenda I'm just trying to find the right one I want to send to now put it into me if you want to move on yes I'll put that in the folder and everybody can look on that we can go back share your screen all. schedule is this a conversation for non-public no because of the policy correct yeah okay go ahead so as you can see the Baseline for the first seven steps Remains the Same over the next 2 years or 3 years and there is a two and a half percent increase to every step of Bob of that the reason for my choice of doing this was that almost all of our staff fall within the step 8 to step 20 so that ensures everyone got at least two and a half percent over the next three years which is been pretty average for all the districts and step 0 through 7 are already so we're really good compared to all the other districts in the first seven steps if we don't change them in the next three years will still be ahead of other district with those bottom 7 steps so that way if we focus on putting the additional funds into the steps eight and above we're actually putting it where people are going to see it people are either stuck at the top step Priyanka step 10 new there for 10 years. 20 they're there for any amount of time after 20 by doing that we're making sure they're getting something every year that everyone is getting something every year we do this every 3 years is that God do they still give the top levels do they still get that some sort of a bonus kind of thing longevity stipend on top of the salary but if you were at step 10 for the the first year you'll get that bonus and then the next year you would stay at the same salary from 10 until 20 / 10 years so you wouldn't see any change so by changing it each year by two and a half percent there at least getting that two and a half percent each year they get the bonus each year who sang so between 10 and 20 your salary stays the same but you get that bonus between 10 and 20 be there in two and a half percent to step 10 so they'll still get us the two and a half percent increase each year over what they made the prior-year all the way from 10 through 20 just for the next three years since Eli stop time in 2021 from The Bachelors line is 57095 and 42122 it's 58 625 and then if we scroll over to 2120 to place to live in for that I'm sorry 22 trying to get there sorry this is blocking me I can't I could see it's fine. 20 from 2019 to 2029 you still for the next two and a half percent okay and I remember in the region email use in like you do a limited to today this Compares very favorably did you have I think you have an example in the original email I was trying to compare this to Oberlin Chesterfield that's what it was and so I showed his steps 00 even in 2223 without changing it in the next three years would still be ahead of that those districts with their current changes at that time so it still are favorable to the iron I mean I have limited experience with what pay is this looks in the education world this looks good to me by Eric what's your input as someone who's on the receiving end of educational paycheck and I'm just a bit I'm looking at the bottom or the entry steps are the zero through I don't know what 3 it looks like we're in it is that by 1% increase that is exactly the way it is right now so I didn't change steps 0 through 7 someone that dances each year is it they're going to go up a step so they will see a pay increase but it's not necessarily but it's not necessarily cost of living increase know they would just get that stuff yes what's what does it take to go up steps is it credits is at experience rich every year you should go up a step what is steps just translate to years in service is at that's just okay so this has nothing to do with additional credits or Etc if you if you're in the middle Lane which is once you achieve enough additional credits you would go in the M A Plus okay so that's obviously so Eric are you concerned that increases word lack of increases between no Sera blower enza's is problematic I guess I would like to see that we we keep it consistent if we're given a two and a half percent increase haven't through 20% raise two books were down at the lower stats as well if that is something you'd like to see I can drop it low back and realign all the steps to make have a similar stop it sounds like we're locked into what just just for this year starting next year if you wanted to I could rewrite the 21 22 and 22 23 trying to call which what you're asking I guess it could be cricket team side-by-side and see what the cost would be that would be a helpful cuz I think you know it was Eric is pointed out has righted it would seem weird to be in a small school like ours knowing that you were getting a you know less I made it says, and I'm just not familiar like I said it's extremely common for there to be no similarity between the steps I have seen contracts where you go from Step zero to one and you get $300 one until you get $600 somebody on step 8 going tonight it's 10,000 there is no Rhyme or Reason in most contract as to what the steps are I think this scale is pretty even I mean if you look at this stuff between 0 to 1 at 610 and from there to the next one is five and then it goes up to a song Zoom stays on a thousand minutes 1100 thousand thousand you see what I'm saying so the next one's 1100 so there is a pretty even progression without me contract  scene God did you share a whole contract for Chesterfield Marlboro with the board numbers for the neck 3 years for both of those with the original email then I can resend that as well or would like to look at that yeah is this since I mean since this year Ready Set it doesn't seem like we have to move on the next 2 years as quickly as bus that got killed. tech savvy lower steps didn't have a very big increase in the field so that we attract some of the some of the younger staff because we've had turn over lately I like. He's idea of studying Marlboro and Jeff Fields doing got so I think it sounds like we could Scott if you could send out some bud info and we could take a look at this again and like I said there's no rush for the next two years at this point right now I can take some of your feedback so what you would do that later date I think that sounds great but you want the other small schools salary schedule as well as those two large ones like are Asilomar School similar to your size and I I would find it helpful to her maybe a chart start with you know all the local schools schedules Bermuda actually already have one of those texts might be helpful okay remove pass that one then good item for the workshop today June 18th and Kelsey Tijuana I know. Even speak to that. To give me a call at that person is a workshop day for the Nelson teachers and Rob has the essential workers and other school teachers back on the starch remote learning I had two days off and before we do know they came back the essential workers all work those two days to try to get ready for you know for this next phase of what we were doing and Rob has closed all her building in the eighteenth and nineteenth of the essential workers can have a few days off the only school that still has Workshop days left and you know when I called Rich and ask him if it was you know why they would be forgiven you. contract folks you can forgive him a day and I think that's earned it and X overs but I think we need to board to say that they did not have to work on Thursday yep that's correct so I can clear on that so just I don't have any input or objections so how would you know HSN all the pages. You don't have to work the other day that will be the same that was just not have to work on a miscellaneous payday yep that's exactly right. E instead of a workshop day so the motion would be to move the final Workshop Day to a miscellaneous Payday for the teachers okay so moved okay all in favor rich I can I l85 thank you okay thank you very much I know Kelsey and joy I need to have a couple days just to decompress because they've been bringing a Kelsey Kelsey is put in well above what she's been contracted for has been bringing it so I you know just as a sort of a gesture of thank you for all of your efforts I think in a that is going to be greatly appreciated I know it's appreciated in other buildings as well and I think that you'll see it'll be a lot of Goodwill so thank you glad to do it school start time 5 Rob is at. I'm going to speak to the ladder things that are going tag team this one better communicating a little bit more with the transportation stop putting your drive up some documents that the first first student Central on foot can you drive and trying to explain the roots I'll need some help the deciphering some of that that was so I drove around here I live. If you want free miles from Nelson that I knew what you know places were so anyways, do you want to walk us through it and I can help if need be so the first documented Uber is the Nelson bus route explanation and this speaks to the Nelson Van and one of us we got is Scott at this that the text one or this one of the ones with them at the text one okay so it starts out with my biggest concern with this route was the board's concern of children being on the bus for an hour and 45 minutes in or our goal for them was to be under an hour we didn't want any children on the bus for an hour and so in trying to do this she literally broke down each stop with the time for both the big bus Andaman and gave us maps that showed each stop is a number not a person or a name on a map with the times that they would be there unfortunately to achieve the goal that we asked her to there was a couple of stops where the only option would be either the child would be on the bus for over an hour or they could meet say NA meeting point at the end of their road that was the 4534 Nelson Road stop old Stoddard Road Log Cabin Lead Mine Rd Hill Road stops the first suggestion would be that they meet at The Log Cabin roll and old Stoddard Road at the library so they can be picked up on their way back through town shape cut the time down to 45 minutes vs an hour and 15 minutes for those students NFP could also pick up the student from Nelson Road at the corner of Nelson Tolman Pond Road it would reduce that sound by 50 minutes so there's a couple of situations that because of the length of time there is no way to do a second run with a van and make it to school on time so the very few cases that we outlined there then went to have to be a pick-up point that was not the child's home in order to achieve the under an hour time frame and I believe that that this requires school drop-off will be at 20 of Kelsey 20 of 8 E-40 is your spine at school drop-off Albion elementary kids so how's the kids stop now what about 5 or 10 minutes before you start school at 8 remember my gosh 745 I think is when we go out by outside to bring them in glasses are usually here depending on the weather a couple minutes before then and they'll they'll wait but 745i so basically you start time would be about that cuz you can still start it while no because she goes there early dismissal time dropped off at the Nelson school at 7:40 did you say daddy that now we're changing the disposal time as well baby back and Keen I got to drop off all the Nelson kids middle school high school kids hang on just got to get to the race it doesn't that's not in your drive but currently use dismissal 245 correct yes you might be able to stay with us time frame actually you might be able to stay with the same timeframe and have him get back to Keene by 3:30 they got to be at King Middle School by 3:30 that's 8 minutes after dismissal but that's currently what happened anyway it's not quite that one spot 5 minutes that they are there after dismissal is cuz all the team buses go first and then the town buses whirlwind so this is what 42 vans I think you have a shared one with Harrisville CJ's van yeah one person one small box they do three this three legs of the feeder band love so Log Cabin Road Old Stoddard Road and leadmine Hardy Hill would just bring those parents would just bring their kids to Nelson common is that what you're saying Tabasco up Log Cabin Road now anyway yeah I mean it I mean not not for my kid that mean it will have been dropped off sometimes but generally as far as I know the two kids to live on our road to get driven to school at this point so it doesn't come up here in the morning and the dust requires and if you don't know if you noticed on the maps it does require all three levels to be riding together for a while elementary middle and high just in the morning yes it does Mel elementary kids will be all dropped off before they go into came to pick up the middle and high school kids don't offer don't all levels ride together in the afternoon now currently yes they still do that in the morning instead of in the afternoon when they're all still half-asleep so if they will all get along well so much when they're sitting there doing their homework at the last minute there you go even better I'm sorry but certainly conversations that are being had and things like that it would be wonderful if we didn't have to share about in the afternoon speak kids away from my little babies sardines raw Patrick families that have to drop off in town at the library is that where they would pick up then at the end of the day Scott you got that in front of you to the end of the route stop meth documentary folk file Log Cabin Road 69 Log Cabin 110 Log Cabin and it goes started road is 407-430-4474 old Stoddard Road and then Nelson Thomas on is 260-1275 57 foot looks like it has a little more expensive than in the morning in the afternoon I mean for drop-offs is that we're talking Sycamore Hawaii was trying to condense it so the kids weren't on the bus so long I don't know how important that is in the afternoon in the afternoon look during the elementary separate from the middle school high school right back way and again the latest of the kids which is important according to this the kids would like the latest any other route would be around 4:11 which is just under an hour after dismissal play the middle school anyway yeah, the total number of buses then is in the Box big bus or whatever I don't know what it it called yeah mute sorry I believe it is still one that I shared with parisville one solely for now. and a big Buster Nelson okay you save an Jimmy small buses the term fan is missing yeah it is in my discussion with her they would be I would be still sharing with one of the the routes with her and stuff how does that work that they share with Harrisville how did the kids get combined I think that they went to drop off cuz I think that I'm that's what the schedule too but I think it's it's wrong it's on the pain areas where you share with us that route Stewart Middle School high school kid all stops KMS of Keene High School Tolman Pond Road stops Tolman pond in Brickyard Ann Tolman an Uber in Long Pond I think that's the feeder van like three Green elementary kids to the to the Harrisville Elementary School we're just picking up high school kids add line right there those kids that live Rina right in your new business if you know this goes right to Harrisville right from their rights cuz it's in the line right near there yes it is it's one straight shot Jordan to the map for stops so it seems to me our choices are you know go with planet have parents drop kids off in the center of town and or another location the bottom of Solomon Pond road or be they say on the bus a long time and I think that it can be an individual voices well if a parent wants to do the drop they can do that if one parent would rather they can ride the bus longer than you know what I mean as long as that is conveyed it's not at all or nothing I do not believe I didn't file that how could like some parents could do a drop off but then is going to be making a van will make a pass with the elementary earlier in the morning and it'll be passing through so if you have no way of getting a child to the middle school or high school or to the drop point later they can get on at the same time and how do I say five. Longer than an hour ride do you have the ability to get your middle school or high school or to the drop point later when the bus goes by on the second Loop they can take advantage of that so the bus is going to take Rhodes no matter what and his parents just don't want their kids on for such a long time they can bring them to the and the road of the Villager wherever I'm not sure I was told that I would try to get it before but now I'm confused can you hear me now next Stone defeat Irving is going to be making one pass in some of these further throughout further it can't make two passes so when it goes it's going to go through once and get all the elementary kids who have to start sooner now if you don't have a way to get your middle school high schooler to the drop-off they would not get they would get all of the elementary kids and have to ride that whole route and sit on the bus for more than an hour however if you have a way to get your child to the drop point they could not get on that early is Van first and you could drop them at the center of town to catch the Big Bus when it's going through closer to the high school middle school start time I'm sorry are you and this could just be Dawning on me so the elementary kids will also be picked up at their house and it's just we're just talking about middle school and high school okay sorry that's okay I was thinking because school early those older kids the benefit from that later start. Okay that makes a ton more sense now I'm warming up to this I can understand it first so there won't be any elementary students who are on the bus for an hour no because they're first he picked out the earliest would be like 7 and then we dropped off at school looks like a 747 45 did you talk about the afternoon as well about how long they'd be on and no, I didn't know if we were talking about high school before as well they may be on the bus before 11 Town & Country Elementary I'm not going to go home and then they go home and then they get to Keene by 3:22 so I'm here at 3:30 so your kids are going to they're back at KMS can you finance it looks like they're Debbie dropped off on three about 3 from your school and then some of them are on granite like in all those and then they're going to leave the key in like a half hour to get skein one of the buses and another one mkfs to do CJ's Sharon route looking at that one looks like a V I guess she might help out with that when I don't know that they have something smells and looks like the outside but Nelson as well Mad Men Stan Hancock's essence essence of Summer on Brown Road not clear to me you have that stuff because it's not clear to me this a transfer or something turn light three on the original DJ's name on it yeah I believe that they make those pickups and then they had to Key Middle School team High School I don't think there is another stop or transfer . Scam McKean high school you can see it's heading away from Nelson Elementary headed towards I don't think your kids are on the bus and you know how much past 3 Aloe Blacc I can't say that I don't have a feeders going to work differently than the the big boss and the big boss is coming from King I'm not clear on that it is a big bus starting at the school and then how to fight usually work in the afternoon Kelsey anyway Sky drop off from there right we have it so hard for me to know the difference when they drive in Sullivan versus Nelson but we'd have one bus then I think a Nelson bus that waits for the big bus to come right now from school and they transfer some kids on to that little bus and then some of our kids get on that Big Bus as well with the older kids but there's also another spot that I I don't see where there are some other transfers that happened and I don't remember if that Edward one of the smaller buses the latest drop off will be like 3:31 in the front almonds on that section over there bad for the 45 it's a lot better than the 411 I had in my head I was on the same thing cuz that's coming from that's after the high school. run there and I think that's where there's yeah there is a transfer now I see if there is a transfer on the afternoon run to get the kids up on the Nelson Road and I think what you know like your big bus goes back to Keene gets all the kids and then I thinking of it doesn't involve you but I think with salad and they're going to have a place with a meeting and if I remember correctly installed enriched I think that's the plan that they have a cell there's a place that they meet in discharge them and eat something and I don't know and then a small budget taking a middle school and high school kids home and there's somehow a rather over by you know and by the way I think there may be some in a a nation with with the Harris Hill kids and that if that's happening I suspect and I can keep don't quote me on that it is possible that kids might be asked to ride the Harrisville bus home if that's the case connection said they don't say that on the left but I don't know how they would get them you know what I meet up with them because you know Brown Road which is across from the Baltimore Orioles school and then heading over on Empire Lane do you guys know where that is silver by Hair Salon Piper Lane and that's what's up with Cabot Rodan and so you know it is possible so I wouldn't be shocked that that happened but that would be a big deal I will rather think once I get home and even when they publish their Roots usually they have this kid rides this but he knows but it's very best Pacific that that the kids on the list of the name so it's very clear how do I get home but again it doesn't say that on this quote but I personally don't see that as a big problem Sprout we'll be riding together you know in the morning anyhow they all know each other I'm sure did we have a zoom meeting or something for parents so that they can all see you know in particular is it going to happen to their kids so that I know and can plan and can talk about it and prepare typically the bus company puts out every night like a whole schedule with names and so that you know in and Rob you usually stats on the SIU website as well as and can be on the school websites to buy you when I get down to that final detail over the 10-minute window when they want kids waiting that usually doesn't happen till about a week before school and it's usually detailed so that I can go and say you need to be at your bus stop at fly and you'll be picked up by blah it's just that this is going to be very different this year right turns going to be high school kids in with elementary kids is going to be the the the high school kids can get picked up in the village instead of riding around on the route that there's there's things that you can't really figure out from reading the schedule if you don't have them verbal explanation that goes along with it and maybe there's a way to to publish that and some people get ahead of time know what it is you know what I've been involved in in the morning in the afternoon as far as the bus goes little kids riding you know I put together you know just did a zoo meet again it's it's it's not finalized yet and the week before school for the final final X or something at me get an overview cuz cuz it's it's significantly different than the way we've done it for 20 years the news for the elementary school kids very minimal change for the time that golden Lane School looks very little to minor as far as the actual time some of us have to change their start time to an hour more than an hour earlier so what will be the official Elementary start and stop times then I think you can stay the same yeah I was going to ask do we need to cuz I know that we we have anger day already so like a five-minute here and there isn't going to be as big of a deal I didn't know if we needed to shave it in the end for them to be able to get the kids elementary kids home and then get the Keen but I don't think receiving kids five minutes earlier is a big deal in the morning I think he would still we could still start at 8 but I need to be off that bus like at 7:40 correct so they can men get together be riding 745 for Greenville schedule so do you have any place you want I don't know how much you want to monkey with the morning because that means those people you know again the middle school and high school kids that they choose to it's going to be getting up earlier they choose to ride the route you know better already over 40 in a 45 minutes that will change his were talking about meeting at about the middle school and high school kids if you want to shave something I do it in the afternoon or maybe even start staying awake be ready to leave for the buses roll early until we get the you know everything the bugs worked out so they can get back to Keene already scheduled it going to be riding at the middle school at 8 late to school. Which is fine because they're usually seven buses already in line ahead of them so it's not a big deal but I don't know I mean they're usually those are the kids that are out on the water the town kids waiting for their buses to roll in now get some time to go to their locker though it is that is that is very true you know and I think they're after they appreciate not having to rush but they had to run back to a classroom and get a paper whatever it gives him those extra few minutes give us to Nelson is a lot bigger deal than missing it and teen absolutely Erica says someone who's too has a high schooler getting a next year what are you what do you think about this timing and stuff I know this is a big concern of yours if I understand it correctly I think it's going to work fine I just I don't want kids on the boss you know the whole point of moving the start time for the high school or middle school what to give kids that extra time in the morning and it appears that the schedule takes that into account so if I understand the the draft as it is right now in a my son's getting on the bus at 7:53 which is a lot I get down at 7:05 midnight looks like he's going through Harrisville you know that's fine but I think this makes sense my only concern will be for parents for whom this is a big change for the boss is not picking them up outside their door at the end of their driveway but they have to bring their kids to some designated spot that's we might have some conversations about her parents asked questions about that if I understood you correctly though they could still be on the bus on it forever verses play with children a ride if they needed us okay so we ready to just need the motion I'm assuming start time is Rob did we change the start time I thought we keeping the start time the same we are so that's the only thing is we would need a motion is changing the start time correct start and end time then we would need an action item but if we if we don't need to make those changes and we don't have an action that needs to be taken okay Rick and Morty think about this before we move to the next item I just think that this is very new and so when we tried in the fall I would want to let Kelsey reserve the right test she thinks that she needs to change start time that she can bring it up again if she needs to wiggle it by 5 minutes or 10 minutes or whatever I would encourage her to bring up this if she feels she needs to I would caution against is making Nelson stay longer since we have one of the longest day is already in elementary school so if anything making our day shorter would be much preferable if you'd see okay next time appointment of attendance officer Jay had called me cuz that are one of our previous meetings I think the he just assumed everyone who is in office no doing the the attendance officer or Betsy Church who is doing the attendants are officer attendance officer Duty would just want to keep doing it and she did not so me either needed to find you need to find a new attendance officer or Jay had recommended that many towns just use the police chief officer and for as little as he and I talked with Betsy and she was attendance officer for 10 years and she said she had to make two phone calls and 10 years so it's not a party really big problem for us and Nelson so Jay was going to reach out to a chief crap and see if he be willing to and I haven't heard back maybe probably. He knows more about that but made a deal but I wanted to swear to get the rest of the boys take on whether they feel okay with that or if we should actually look for someone to actually fill that bill. the chance person two in the past we wanted somebody different than the police for some families that it's just it it feels like a lot of pressure if the if the police calls and so we wanted somebody that was more neutral I don't have a problem Richie crap does a great job you know I think he works hard to have a good rapport with the kids but that was why we had tried to find somebody just because we wanted to be sure that you know you had somebody that was that was more neutral so okay that makes sense not that we use very often like it hasn't been a huge problem in Nelson but so is Alexa FairPoint Kelly and I think some of our other districts we're doing that as well but as I guess circumstances have changed you know asking a civilian to possibly go onto property where their safety could be compromised has become a growing concern and so many of the districts that have initially used to civilian to fill that role have shifted over to law enforcement whether that's the police force or the sheriff's office or whatever the case may just because they know you walk onto a property where a kid hasn't been to school in three or four weeks and you might be walking into a situation that could put You In Harm's Way and no way to protect yourself so I didn't know what I get it you don't want that that presents but we don't we don't call on the attendance officer if it's one or two or three days you know it's usually pretty well-established pattern after multiple phone calls and Outreach from the school have failed that's when we go the route of an attendance officer and so and just want to keep that Dino on the back of your mind that Lakewood will go whatever Direction you you want us to go in but you know just something to keep in mind that's all yeah well I hope that we're encouraging our attendance officer said never go to a place where they when they feel uncomfortable I think she even said she made phone calls and put herself personally in danger right but when it gets to a point where you have to petition the court I mean you do have to demonstrate that you have done absolutely everything including the home visits as part of your Outreach do you know so that's where schools have opted to shift from the civilian to somebody who has the abilities to earliest train to be in the situation that might compromise their safe yeah you it wouldn't want to just say I go out there and if it looks bad forget it because we do have duties to report this and and and continue that process and what has happened is kicked it back because well you didn't make a home visit well it wasn't looking like a safe environment and I wasn't so I mean it's a tough situation so whatever it whatever Direction you want us to go away you know you want to bring the civilian into the role will bring the civilian if you want to move to approve the chief pending his acceptance will do that too so how you feeling are I think I'm comfortable just to ask the the chief that he would would not have any help or I'll just make a note about two okay any other business did we want to talk about the office space yes yep Chelsea Okay so I think you probably most of your remember there was a a board meeting after a board meeting Kelly and I dream big to try to figure out a way to get a washer and dryer in to our school and we I've been as you know struggling to get anybody out here to sort of give us to do any work for us however we have reached out to another contractor in the area has come out and fixed something for us it is wonderful and I also asked if he would be able to give us an idea on what an office sort of renovation would cost I am sort of felt like you know it'd be great to get the washer and dryer in there but maybe this kind of goes on the back burner for a bit until this covid-19 here to be able to put somebody if they were displaying symptoms or really any we don't really have a good bit of a nurse's office that kind of thing so in part of what we have been talking about with the office remodel was too kind of create some of those faces as well so the contractor asked us to reach out to somebody to draft up an idea what what plan bring your own construction e things would look like and get enough to get us an idea on pots so I did that I reached out to Tim Sampson I believe in Keen he came out the end of last week and is going to be getting back to me on what that would look like that clip look like and if you want to talk about he did everything how much shorter so so so the guy came out was like you don't have enough space to do any of this so he said he was going to I dropped off the best thing he could and the contractor has said you know you could be looking at like 50000 to do something like this so that's including the bathroom putting that if that would be including yes including putting in the washer and dryer having a nurse's bathroom having a faculty and staff bathroom and then you know the electrical what kind of other stuff that would go into something like and besides got $10,000 I think it was 15 so just going to weigh in just a little bit on this the need to isolate a student covid-19 is kind of important and so when you're only space is in the office with her with your Frontline people if if someone's passing on all of those J rims and they're not able to be isolated but you know then you're running the risk of Staff getting sick and passing it on and so on and so forth so and it's works it's worth all right and in past so but you know pandemic response kind of highlighted the need that you don't have in a the ability to isolate a student if you needed to to prevent contagion being passed on to any other person in the building so you know that's what I think led to some of the deeper conversations with regard to the office space being reimagined if you will which is Kelsey's bringing forward today just but I wanted to throw that out there because it it does kind of leave a bit of a risk when your nurses bed is like right behind the administrative assistant in the main office I mean maybe you do get the architectural plans this year and then we put it in the budget for the following year or something like that maybe this becomes a two year journey I don't I feel like we need to be are all important things that we didn't necessarily address when we did for the the million dollar Edition support the dream thought I think you got to do it right even if we have to do it in two steps or something the one thing that I don't even know if she's falling but there is this cares money that also been allotted Nelson is $20,000 and we have a webinar tomorrow that will listen to it but if there is a possibility because there's money is to address things I'm up since you know like the covid-19 is kind of highlighted Union the weather be remote learning or anything else I don't know if this would make the attachment and hopefully we'll learn some are you doing that webinar tomorrow Scott at 10 I was planning on it and that cuz I was going to try tune into because that would be good if we could I find out whether or not the money could be used for this project if I don't know if that would make a difference cuz if it is 50000 and you know you might be able to get pretty close to and it may not be designed then he really knows what he's I work so that that could change drastically especially if the designer thinks that the space is much smaller so maybe it'll be less intensive we had originally thought so I don't know how you I mean to Carriage money I mean like again you know that that's an unknown right now but am I know that's waiting on your thinking or not if that money is available for that purpose so when when these decisions have to be made as far as even how to spend the cash money at this is all it would be another meeting or how does that work with a budget then think rob you have to approve Grant Rite Aid come back to the board how to say you want to keep you informed okay I look forward to the updates on that and it just Institute they do with the small space like frankly I think you're right I think I think you know I think Kelly's right just started off that it makes no sense to throw a little bit of money at it and just you know halfway through it the landscape has changed so dramatically that we may as well and it could be I don't at some point it may be compliance think it could open us up two problems you know if you'll get sick and we don't have the proper space than you have to make the school safe space my two cents yeah I think you need to either jump in or or or wait until you're ready to jump in and I think waiting to be ready to jump in is probably the right move at the Prince got disappeared so I wouldn't I wouldn't totally wait let's let's get a design and a plan and you know maybe even go out for bids let's let's do all the prep work with cancer shovel ready as they used to say yeah I will say too and I don't know if you're going to have to go out to bid and all those things but this particular contractor did say you know I said I'm kind of not I don't know how this would happen at the beginning of the school year end and he did say that he would you know I think sometimes contractor time is a little bit different than other people's time but he did say that he felt he could be done by August if everything aligns for play to have it ready but again knowing that there's a bunch of other stuff that have to happen first and in the meantime as well you know I do think it's going to be really important to have a space that that we can use I'm so I'm planning on your lips if these things don't happen I'm planning on trying to find somewhere else to put myself in the school so that we can have a more private space if needed more we can close the door try to keep things contained I joked about going outside but that might be the answer get me a little pop up tent and all but outside now we always build a little bit of contingency and our budget right in particular in the elementary out-of-district area so it's got to give us a anticipated budget you know I know this is just so you know there are a couple of places where we could pull money from to take care of thing doesn't come through or if we need to supplement the other Joe Kelly in India in your folder for tonight Scott put a financial report near showing 138000 Surplus and I know that sometimes it's kind of tricky because we haven't we haven't even started the school year yet could move in move out to wish is our biggest driver so I'm talking about this current budget which ends at the end of this month oh so we could encumber that money now is that what you're saying Scott the singer Plus in any project started before June 30th couldn't come burn that money but it would have to start before June 30th at what at what is start mean is that and getting these drawing is that starting I think you have to physically touch something in the building disconnected you sank and said I'll be back to finish it next month they have been out just so you know to work on some of the other things do you have faith Kelsey that this guy really could finish this contractor really good finished in August I mean he's at he's a pretty big name in the area he's got a sister the business couple 5 years ago or so he doesn't end well and I would hate to stick my neck all the way out for this guy cuz I don't know him well at all he did say however that he is not taking any more jobs but because we are a school he would do he would be willing to work really hard to get us under the the pressure that were under more so than other places and would be willing to to say you can get this done by August though could we could we actually and come to this money and still go through the bid process how to get ome this seems like getting all that done in 2 weeks will that with is that is that really feasible that would really be pushing it it's impossible so next week so I think before you know like can we really I would love to eat you know you some of the Surplus but can we actually do it what does do you have to give you chills but like I got you. I mean contractors did things all the time in a week what more does he need from you in order to give you them he said that he didn't have the time to 2. something out to drop like a scotch or some sort so that's why he had made contact with other guy so he is waiting on that that draft to be able to really put together a solid number Nvidia say when he'd be able to do finish the sketch this week I mean I'm sure if I put some pressure on him he could try to do it a little bit quicker but Telemundo one before June 25th and and take advantage of that you need to have all your ducks in a row what are we get it out to is in Thai mean even with the drawing let's stay in the next 4 days it just seems like if you start how do you get the bid process started by June 20th if you even can yeah and then turns around house how quickly I've been out how long a bit has to be out for I don't know is there is there I know it can vary but is there a minimum and do we have to we have to really do our due diligence in and see what other if anyone else does but you know we can't just without there is there a minimum how long you have to wait if you put something out to bed call seeing a minimum know I'll have to double-check with you only take me a minute is going to pull the policy will be just have to try I know right now there's a lot of contractors there's no busy they're not going to bet on it we may only get one babe regardless of how long we put it out there might be worth trying to wear well I'm all for trying at it as long as it's the timeline is even in the remotest bit you want me to come I would make it a very rough sketch something I could work on that together but if you put it out for next week close the beds at the end of it might happen I don't know if it's not a contractor who says he's willing to do it we just got to make sure it's not an outrageous Bryson and we're not doubting the taxpayers right right all right I mean in honesty Kelly I could put the paperwork together tomorrow get that already we could actually have hosted by Saturday and then say contact you know if we find out for instance Kelsey saying I need this by Friday and we can say contact you know the out my office on Monday for the specifics there you go we don't even have to have yeah as long as it were assured that we will have it by Monday we can have it in the paper Saturday they call Monday to get the specifics I can have Miss Penny's at a whole package ready is that you need a bit by Wednesday Friday whenever our timeline is I think it's part of that bid at we have to make sure that they come you know they have to start work before you know by June and if we can explain to them you know start work means just show up like you said take a couple things out so at least we're in compliance so I just put your policy up there so that we are all clear we would do the average is it in the Press or you could send it to tell folks that other schools have used you can send it directly to some folks that you've had good luck with in the past and even though they might know Bennett or they might be but there is no minimum amount of time for that bid to be out there by your policy okay worth try now do we want to move forward with it if the cares money cannot be used then it's a pretty big chunk out of our Surplus I mean I guess we should figure that out for are we making this contingent on you know being able to use the grant money or not contingent of being able to use the Surplus as if you don't have that Surplus you didn't you don't know what your budget is going to look like next year you might not be able to afford but we do have the $15,000 already set if it was 50,000 and be $35,000 Surplus and or $15,000 budget in 20,000 from up to 20,000 cares and man 10,000 Surplus what's the difference of about 20,000 out of surplus basically right and that's as I see it that's very feasible with the amount of surplus we have either scenario I'm sorry Rob that are wondering if cares if we get this Grant from the cares you can be dead to use for any budget you write that could be next year I mean we're going to incur expenses that are unexpected above and beyond what we budgeted for so my Tucson he that cares money if we're going to spend that one way or the other and we ought to just use the Surplus that's either ghost is my understanding correctly to go back to the taxpayers or we use it yes to carrots money is the way there they have it out line this weekend cuz that money up to September of 2021 so having that there would be a nice little safety net for the next 13-14 months the point all right so this is me Maine type of motion from us what how would we were the world the wording here so because you've got the their entirety of the authorized the board chair to sign on behalf of the district along with a superintendent that was a change previously only the superintendent was required to sign assurances and now it appears that that's going to be the process moving forward in and I'm stating this so that it will be reflected in the minutes Jackie hint hint hint that we discussed the Federal Grant assurances during the board meeting so that if they audit us you know there will be that reflection in the minutes that we did have the discussion about the assurances you may recall Kelly it was like 9 pages long you had two initial already come in and done that but it would probably behoove us just to have emotion from board to authorize the the chair to sign the Federal grant program assurances on behalf of the Nelson School Board okay second okay all in favor of the motion rich just because okay all in favor Eric did you want a Kelsey to give you an update on you know that everybody knows about you know her recent you know God the  teacher absolutely okay so rich and I spoke not very long time ago but it feels like ages ago about sort of wanting to be in the the best possible situation we can be for next school year and we had already spoke about and I have no past everything that we would have a 6 to teach her the school year upcoming school year but because of the way enrollment was sort of working out we thought we would be able to do another year with keeping the specials room and you would have one large classroom that would be a combined 34 class but now looking at sort of how those hearing about the enrollment a little bit over who might be coming in and out that class is looking a little bit bigger and trying to be mindful about potential guidelines that are coming down might be coming down about coconut like to be in the best situation possible for starting the school year next year hopefully in person the rich and I talked about having going out again I'm looking for a sixth teacher to to see if we could make that a reality for next next school year stop that way I reached out to there was an somebody else that we had interviewed I done a first interview but we are pretty far along in the process with one of our other finalists for our other position so I reached back out to that person Lenny know that we would be riposting if she was interested in coming for a second interview and the position should be posted very very soon and that's where we are so hard that I think my take on it was I mean I think it's good for sight for uncertain times as wide as long as obviously we're not settling like we don't you don't know that we desperately need it so let's not you know just I don't know what the pool looks like anymore at this point in time but it's a really good match comes along that's a good fit then you're great but if not let's not desperately sort of grabbed whoever's available that was my two cents starting one thing I know that Kelsey and the Machine I had talked and how is it you know like your current 3rd 4th you know your 4th grade teacher would like to have the kids be now she keeps all those kids but if we're trying to be proactive think we need to hire someone with flexibility consider running 2 3 4 like we're running into one tooth and that is a number reason more than anything I mean it doesn't have to be that way but I think we should have some of that flexible enough to do it because that fourth grade class is huge and the third grade classes no it's tiny and if we're trying to limit the number of kids because of in our be able to him depending on what kind of mold were in think we need to have some this flexible to do anything again that fourth grade class to be the one class at stove everybody else we need to hire some of that would be do whatever and advertise that way to you know what would be my suggestion because we advertised thing someone to teach either a single grade or a third fourth glass please people you know that are willing to teach a combined class usually you know one but they didn't they know that and willing to do it like the people you're already hard really top-notch people l612 if my. It's the wording for that posting that anytime does it reflect that sitting in my draft emails ready to be sent out I wanted to wait for this meeting just to make sure but it says classroom. third or 3rd Force classroom teacher grade 3 or 3/4 that sounds I wouldn't know if that's standard or not if you want the flexibility there I think you know you got to be honest with somebody you don't want to hire them and think they going to teach 3rd graders you want higher than being very honest about what the situation is I don't remember how many students are in that class upcoming fourth as its combined right now how many students are we anticipating to trust myself so I'm going to bring it up right now look at it cuz we do we have heard of some people moving in so right now for the current third grade moving in not anymore so our fourth grade we are looking at having 17 students 16 based on what we've heard but that's not official yet and our folks going into 3rd grade is 9 although probably 7 what's 629 in third grade and 15 I think it's 1715 to 17 1/4 way worth what we talked about right yeah you're going to have a hard time distancing in a classroom that large right now I'm all I'm all for adding at 6 teacher I'm in even the class size splitting Adam it depends upon what guidelines and recommendations are we're all going to be in a pickle in the fall for class sizes and numbers of bodies in rooms depending upon what happens with with the panda yeah and that's kind of what was getting to think about that as I just want to be able to be in the best situation we can be in with it already budgeted and thinking about again we don't know but if we're not going to be able to pay you like Community spaces like a specials room it would make me so sad to see an empty specials room and a large class when we could have if I had thought about it ahead of time are those out and had  classes with smaller class sizes in and using all the space that we have in our already pretty on spacious building that you have class sizes would be around 13 right around 13:13 which is more advantageous money combination or just letting you know okay okay thank you hopefully some will pop up any other other don't think so I mean I know let you know that Kelsey but that's the stuff I could be covered by that cares act as like cleaning and the other things but depending on you know like what is keep you posted you know like we having a custodian during the day and those kind of things then if you can't have a lunch interview get ahead of schedule get to clean in between the lunches at the kids eating lunches in their classrooms who knows we just don't have enough information to keep on your radar and and definitely the carrots Act what I understand Scott we definitely cover those kinds of things are we going to talk about the custodian is that non-public or is that not or we can kind of let me know if you have something to share on that church I'm worried we don't have a custodian during the day that is a valid concern and it's already kind of a lot if Joy r i m m coming in to help just with the things that come up during a regular school day but if if we're going to be having more guidelines to be following iPad. it's realistic for her for she and I to be able to do that and I know our custodian that doesn't work for him two switches hours well I guess I got you said that sounds like like Eric said who knows expenses are going to pop up in the next 14 months and this could be the perfect example okay what other other school board members anything Vietnam public I do love you but we need a mouse to go in the non-public okay your emotion tell your muted I make a motion acrylic Publix sorry okay but here a second and Carol all in favor Eric Rowe upcycle technically Kelly rich and Merrick say Kelly just say yes Kelly yes yes yes okay we're back at Woodlawn public in the video is recording sir okay I need the business last chance and I want to learn motion to adjourn by everyone
