I hope that all of the moms out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day this past weekend! It was nice of Mother Nature to provide a beautiful day to celebrate yesterday!
Well, week one of having ALL of our schools fully onsite for five days is behind us now. Having been able to spend a little bit of time at different schools throughout the week, I can state that it was exciting to witness the buzz and enthusiasm from our students and staff as well as the reassurance of getting back to some level of normalcy. Again, this is not a declaration of being in the clear, but a good indication that things are moving in the right direction.
Having all of our schools back in session for the entire week also led to some adjustments to some individual site plans that needed to be made. For example, we have had to make some adjustments to arrival plans at some locations in order to have better flow with more individuals being dropped off than ever before. Those adjustments were made and by today’s reports, are all working much better now. Thank you for your patience as we worked through those details. Additionally, you’ll notice a slight change in food services highlighted below under the Meals section. These adjustments need to be considered from time to time and help us to best serve all of our students. Your understanding is greatly appreciated!
Shifting gears and before I go any further, I want to be absolutely clear in that choosing to become vaccinated is a personal decision. Under no circumstance is shaming someone that chooses one way or the other tolerable. I ask that we all model that acceptance for our students as well. With that, we are working on finding solutions to making the COVID-19 vaccination more easily accessible for our families by offering them at some of our sites. This would function similarly to the way we were able to offer the flu vaccine at our schools in the past, which was also a personal decision. Our initial conversations with community partners have been in anticipation of the FDA approving the use for 12-15 year-old individuals, which is expected later this week (note: approval for individuals 11 and under is not expected until September). As we get more clarity and information we will share that directly from specific school sites. Stay tuned.
Please continue to reach out to your child(ren)’s teacher(s), counselor(s) and principal(s) with any questions or concerns you might have as we get closer and closer to the summer break. It almost seems strange that the summer break is just on the horizon, but it most certainly is at this point, and a strong finish to the school year will help pave the way moving forward! COVID-19 Data: Providing all of the COVID-19 data that we have been tracking since the onset of the pandemic back in March, 2020.
Confirmed COVID-19 Positives that our school personnel are aware of from the beginning of school year 2020-2021 (numbers from 1-4 will be suppressed to help protect individual privacy). These are aggregated so that it does not identify either student or staff and provided in both the most recent weekly totals as well as the totals for the entire school year.
E-Flyer Distribution Program: As a reminder, there are many flyers that our schools are asked to send home throughout the school year. We also post these flyers on our website and it can be found by going to this E-Flyer Distribution Program embedded link.
Meals: We are thrilled to have so many students utilizing the lunch program each day. It is very rewarding for our food service staff to be able to serve students every school day and reconnect with their students. Given the demand and challenges of dining during COVID-19 protocols, the in-person lunch program will be resuming self-service on a limited basis. For example, salad dressings, ketchup and toppings may be offered on a self-serve basis. The goal is to shorten the wait time for students in the lunch line and reinstate autonomy and choice into the lunch program.
Every student in SAU 29 and all children 18 and under are eligible for free meals through June 2021. Regardless of learning plan meals for all students in SAU 29 are free at this time. If students are attending in-person they may receive free meals during their regular lunch period and will not be eligible for remote meals.
ONLY fully remote students and students that do not attend a public school will be entitled to pick up remote meals curbside as outlined below.
- Students attending school fully remote with 5 remote days per week will receive 5 days’ worth of meals available for Wednesday pick-up.
- Students not enrolled in public school may receive 5 days’ worth of meals available for Wednesday pick-up.
Please do not sign up under a parent name, use your student’s name only.

Please submit your order for the following week's meals no later than 7:00am Friday, May 14th. You will receive an email confirmation after placing your order. This form is to order meals for remote pick up on Wednesday, May 19th.

Screening Assessment: Please continue to complete the screening assessment each school day. This allows our school nurses to continue to monitor and provide support with regard to the health of the school community. Please note that we are not requesting that this be done on the weekends, holidays or breaks, only on days that school would typically be in session.
Special Education: The needs of students with disabilities are enormously important. As always, your first point of contact is your child’s special education teacher or building principal. Please reach out to them anytime and share your thoughts. You may also contact the Student Services Offices at SAU 29 at 357-9001 extension 230 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. We can not release the Chromebook to your student until we get a signed agreement. Please send the agreement in with your student.
Parents and Students, Chromebooks should be used for your school work only. Please do not eat while using your school issued Chromebook. We are experiencing high volumes of damaged Chromebooks due to spills. Please make sure you fill in the online registration for your students. It is important to have all the correct information in place.
