Dr. White holds a Doctorate of Education in K-12 School Leadership from New England College. Currently, White is the Director of Curriculum, Communication, Innovation and Virtual Learning with the Mount Mansfield Unified School District (VT) as well as an Adjunct Professor with Castleton University (VT). White has served as teacher and principal at both the elementary and middle school levels over the course of his career.
A search committee comprised of school and Central Office administrators as well as school board members reviewed nineteen applications for the position of Assistant Superintendent. Five candidates were selected for the interview process, two of whom withdrew for positions in other school systems. The committee interviewed three candidates and selected Dr. White to meet with administrators and board members. A virtual public forum was held on March 1, 2021 and the SAU 29 School Board accepted the nomination at their March 4, 2021 board meeting. “Dr. White brings with him a commitment to innovation in learning as well as a desire to continuously engage stakeholders, while fostering a culture of transparency and equity for all within the school community,” said Superintendent Robert Malay. “His belief system aligns with the core beliefs held by the staff, administration, board members and stakeholders of SAU 29. Ben will have some big shoes to fill, however, I am confident he is up to the task.”
In his position, Dr. White will join the Central Office Leadership Team and work closely with Assistant Superintendent Brian Campbell and Superintendent Malay to provide educational leadership, administrative direction, supervision, and technical assistance to the schools in SAU 29.
Upon learning of his selection, Dr. White stated, “I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity to join such a dynamic leadership team that demonstrated clearly to me during the interview process their commitment to not only students but teaching and learning. I am looking forward to building relationships with all stakeholders to learn more about how we can best support students, explore new innovative pathways for learning, and develop systems that support staff in providing an exceptional education. Honestly, I am excited to support Superintendent Malay and the Central Office Leadership Team in making SAU 29 the best place to work and live. Personally, my wife Liz and I are so excited to become active members of the community as well!”
