Mr. Malay stated “I’m excited to welcome Dr. Gallagher to the Keene School District and SAU 29. With her wealth of experience, I am confident that she will be a valuable asset to Keene High School, the staff, families and most importantly the students. I want to thank the selection committee for all their hard work in finding such a high quality candidate during the difficult circumstances caused by the global pandemic.”
Dr. Gallagher holds a Master’s of Education Administration and a Doctorate from University of MA-Amherst and a Juris Doctor from the University of NH School of Law. Currently, Gallagher is the Director of School Education at Franklin Pierce University. Earlier in her career she also served as an Assistant Professor at New England College. Gallagher’s public school experience includes her tenure from 2007 until 2019 with the Newport School District where she held various roles including Assistant Principal, Director of At-Risk Services and most recently, as the Superintendent of Schools. Although she enjoyed her positions in administration, Dr. Gallagher's passion is to be in a role that involves working closely with students at the high school level.
Dr. Gallagher is a life-long learner herself and has made a significant impact in each of her previous professional roles, working diligently to pave the way for all learners. She is intelligent and articulate and has demonstrated the ability to bring diverse groups together for the betterment of the community and school. Dr. Gallagher is passionate about equity and social justice and intends to use her prior experiences to build a safe, respectful school community for students and staff where each person can succeed.
Upon learning of her selection, Dr. Gallagher said, "I'm honored to be able to join the Keene School District as the new high school principal. This is a perfect transition time. Education is going to look very different as we prepare to return from this pandemic event. I'm excited to be a part of leading this transition forward. I'm eager to be with the students and staff. That is the heart of the job for me. I'm excited to meet the families from all the towns which the high school serves. I look forward to promoting and enhancing all of the opportunities for graduates and program completers as they prepare to leave Keene High School and the Cheshire Career Center.”
