ASSOCIATION OF KEENE TUTORS

Keene Tutors are contracted to work under three definitions of employee status. 

  • Full-time tutors - 1200 or more scheduled annual hours
  • Regular tutors - 990 or more scheduled annual hours, but less than 1200 scheduled hours annually
  • Part-time tutors - less than 990 scheduled annual hours

The first ninety (90) calendar days of employment as a Keene tutor is considered a probationary period to permit the district to determine a new employee's fitness and adaptability for the work required.  Benefits do not go into effect until the first of the month following a 90 day probationary period.

Regular Keene tutors working thirty (30) or more hour hours per week shall be paid six (6) holidays in 2010-2011.  The paid holidays are Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, Civil Rights Day, and Memorial Day.  Holiday time does not count as work time for the purposes of benefits calculations.  In addition, regular tutors are eligible for sick leave, life insurance, long-term disability insurance and Section 125 Flexible Spending Accounts.  

Finally, all Keene tutors may elect to enroll in direct deposit; and the District sponsored 403(b) plan through Fidelity.

LIFE INSURANCE

Term life insurance, with Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) is offered to eligible Keene Tutors at no cost.  Tutors have a life benefit amount of three times (3x) annual salary rounded to the nearest thousand.  Life insurance goes into effect the first of the month following 90 days of calendar employment.  The life benefit remains in effect until an employee either retires or resigns.  Upon initial eligibility, or to change a beneficiary, please complete the following sections only on the enrollment form and return to Human Resources:  Applicant, Beneficiary and Signature

LONG-TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE

Starting July 1, 2009, long-term disability insurance (LTD) will be offered to regular Keene tutors who work 30 or more hours per week.  LTD is fully funded by the Keene School District at no cost to the employee and is paid as a monthly benefit by our insurance carrier at 60% of your pre-disability earnings.  A regular Keene tutor is eligible for LTD the first of the month following a 90 day probation period.  The benefit waiting period for long-term disability is the later of:  a) 90 days; or b) the date your accumulated sick leave ends, if applicable.

A Keene tutor may elect direct deposit of paychecks at anytime by completing the following form and returning to the payroll office:

SECTION 125 - FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNTS

Plan Year July 1, 2010 – June 30, 2011

Flexible Spending Accounts allow you to set money aside on a pre-tax basis to pay for out-of-pocket healthcare and/or dependent care expenses. For complete information on these tax saving plans, click on either the HealthCare Savings Account Brochure or the Dependent Care Savings Account brochure below.  Tutors may elect an annual election for HealthCare Savings accounts of $200 minimum up to $1,000 maximum.  An annual election for Dependent Care Savings Accounts are allowed at $200 minimum up to $5,000 maximum.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Beginning January 1, 2011, FSA participants can no longer use FSA money to purchase over-the-counter (OTC) drugs and medicines (e.g. Advil, Ibuprofen, cough syrup). FSA participants may continue to use FSA funds to purchase OTC items that are not considered a drug or medicine, like bandages and reading glasses. Because our FSA plan year begins July 1st, these changes take effect in the middle of the 2010 Plan Year, so please keep this in mind as you consider how much FSA money to set aside for the upcoming plan year.
