KEENE ELEMENTARY STRINGS PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The purpose of the Keene Elementary Strings program is to provide a high standard of learning to the public school community of the Keene School District. To maintain this, students learning to play a string instrument will acquire through experience and practice the value of the techniques and pedagogy of playing a string instrument through varied repertoire.

  How you can support, praise and promote your child during this experience:

  1. Provide a quiet place for practice
  2. Set up a consistent practice schedule
  3. Remain nearby during practice times as often as possible
  4. Praise your child's efforts and achievements
  5. Avoid using practice as punishment
  6. Allow your child to perform for the family if he or she is comfortable
  7. Remind your child to bring their instrument and music to school on their music lesson and ensemble day
  8. Attend all of your child's performance events

KEENE ELEMENTARY STRINGS CLASS LESSONS START DATES AND TIMES:

October 3-7, 2011 Please have your child bring their instrument, book, and binder 

KEENE ELEMENTARY STRINGS IMPORTANT DATES:

MONDAY, September 26, 2011: 3-7 PM Open House Rental Night at Jonathan Daniels School Gym. Come between 3-7 to have your child sized for their instrument, pick up a book. Black Binders will be given out as well as the updated handbook.

Wednesday, January 11, 2012: 7:00 PM First Concert at Keene High School. *** Rehearsal After school January 11, 2012, 4:00 -5:30 PM at the high school. (Note: If there is a snow emergency, the concert date will be rescheduled)

Sunday, May 13, 2012:  A Mother's Day Concert. 5th Grade Strings ONLY will preform with the Keene Chamber Orchestra. Rehearsals and venue TBA

Wednesday, June 6, 2012: 7:00 PM Step-Up Spring Concert and Awards Ceremony at Keene High School. Rehearsal after school June 6th, 2012 4:00-5:30 PM at the high school. 

 

KEENE ELEMENTARY STRINGS CONCERT DRESS: WHITE SHIRT, DARK PANTS OR BOTTOMS, DARK SOCKS, DARK SHOES. NOTE: YOUR CHILD WILL NEED THIS CONCERT DRESS FOR ALL CONCERTS THIS YEAR.
