Student enrollment in Keene's five elementary schools (kindergarten through grade 5) is 1,173. Enrollments in the schools range from 322 students at Fuller School to 156 at Wheelock School. The average student teacher ratio at the elementary level is about 17.
Recent initiatives at the elementary level that have enhanced the learning environment for children in Keene’s elementary schools include full-day kindergarten, an emphasis on the use of technology in the classroom, an Everyday Mathematics initiative, a core reading program, world language instruction, the Collins Writing Program, grade 5 world language instruction, the social curriculum and peer mediation, Response to Intervention (RTI) and after school programs.

Close collaboration with Keene State College and Antioch University New England for pre-service and teaching experiences, continued volunteer efforts and strong community support contribute to the success of Keene's elementary schools.

Each of the schools is committed to providing a quality educational program to each child in a positive and highly-motivating environment.
