Keene High School Class of 2009 Graduate Survey
On Friday, June 19, 2009, 375 students from the Keene High School Class of 2009 received diplomas and 3 foreign exchange students received certificates of attendance. Prior to graduation students were surveyed as to their future plans beyond high school. This report is an accurate reflection of their post-secondary educational and employment aspirations:
1. Students entering college full-time: 265
A. Entering 4 year programs: 195
B. Entering 2 year programs: 70
2. Students who plan to attend college part time: 10
3. Students participating in other educational programs: 10
4. Students entering military service: 9
5. Students who have secured or are seeking employment: 78
6. Students who will enroll in a P.G. program: 3
7. Foreign Exchange students returning to their country: 3
The percentage of graduating seniors who plan to further their education through full-time college, part-time college, post-secondary programs, and training programs affiliated with their armed service enlistment totals 78%. A further percentage breakdown is as follows:
A. Full-time college: 71%
4 year: 52%
2 year: 19%
B. Part-time college: 2.5%
C. Other educational programs: 2.5%
D. Military Service: 2%
E. Employment: 21%
F. P.G. Programs and Foreign Exchange: 1%
Graduates will be attending approximately 107 different post-secondary schools located in 26 states and Canada. Although the overall percentage of students pursueing post-secondary schools remains consistent with last year, we did see a increase in the number of students entering 2 year institutions and a slight decrease in the number of students entering 4 year institutions. This may be a reflection of both the types of careers students are choosing and the increased opportunities and flexibility 2 year programs can offer students, as well as, a reflection of the economic times. The remaining percentages are consistent with last year.
