 SAU 29 Curriculum and Assessment
SAU 29 is committed to student learning – making our key goal to provide a environment that allows for success for every student.
As the largest multi-district SAU, all children need access to clear, quality curricula implemented in the classrooms of our many schools. A child at Marlborough should have access to the same content as a child at Marlow, Wheelock, or Westmoreland.
Hosted on the "Grade-Level Curricula" page, are PDF files of classroom curriculum for grades (Kindergarten – Grade 5): These files contain the four content areas covered by elementary classrooms Math, Science, Social Studies, and English Language Arts. Health is also included as it is covered by a variety of staff depending on the school (health teacher, classroom teacher, guidance counselor, nurse, physical education teacher, etc.).
"Content-Area Curricula" contain the K-12 work of art, physical education, guidance, health, and library. Music is currently undergoing revision. These curricula exists in variety of formats, depending on the content area. This is due to curriculum committees designing a tool that is user-friendly and has the best information/guidelines for that particular subject. Because curricula are updated routinely, formats change from time to time and "evolve" to meet the needs of national and state demands – as well as integrating current best practices.
