Superintendent's Message- January 2017

Superintendent Robert MalayHappy New Year! I wish you good health and success with your goals for 2017. As an education community we made great strides last year and I look forward to continuing our progress in the New Year. One hallmark from last year was the completion of our shared vision statement, Inspiring and Empowering Every Student to Succeed. We have embedded this statement into the work we do each day on behalf of the students of SAU 29. As we wrapped up last year, we also increased our communications efforts and outreach and look forward to even more opportunities to tout the accomplishments of our students and staff throughout the year.

Work is evolving on our strategic plan as well. Stay tuned for information about opportunities to provide feedback into this important process. The input of all stakeholders is a valuable and necessary component to the development of the strategic plan which will guide the decisions we make in the years to come. Budget season is well underway – I encourage everyone to participate in your district meetings where you will have the opportunity to weigh in on the budgets impacting your school system and to elect the officials who will serve as school district clerks, moderators, treasurers, and school board members. I certainly encourage anyone who is interested in running for one of these positions to apply. The filing period runs from January 25 – February 3 and filings can be made via your local school district clerk.

Finally, 2016 also saw the completion of a study of the student services (special education) division of SAU 29. There will be public forum on February 1 at 6:00 p.m. in the Large Group Instruction Area (LGIA) at Keene High School to share the findings of the study conducted by Evergreen Solutions, LLC. Please join us to hear the report and the recommendations related to student support services.
