hello I see you 29 along with the Quintara professionals Association would like to invite you to our third and final mental health awareness community hi Eddie Frasier this week we're going to watch the film The upstanders if Sanders Explorer is cyber bullying bullying among friends families co-workers and the Brain science behind it all this film will be shown only what's on Thursday May 28th at 6 p.m. and we'll watch it all at the same time we believe there's power and watching this particular film in the comfort of our home but together as one community be sure to stick around after this film is there will be a live soon panel discussion immediately following the film to answer any questions about the themes from the film series including anxiety social media use and bullying please be well thank you and is someone who takes action when they witness bullying did you know that 37% of young people between the ages of 12 and 17 have been bullied online and more than 50% have witnessed online bullying but most don't intervene when bystanders intervene stops within 10 seconds what and half the time even one person support make a big difference for someone who is being bullied there are many things bystanders can do to become upstanders they can question The Bullying Behavior simple things like changing the subject or questioning the behavior shift the focus you can intervene as a group to show that there are several people who don't agree with a bullying and of course bystanders can reach out privately to check in with a person who is bullied to let them know that you don't agree with and that you care it makes a difference hi I'm Kristin Lyons Maddie school counselor at Marlborough School you can even be an upstander without an incident of bullying having to take place you can help prevent by doing things like welcoming others to join activities in group showing kindness respect and empathy towards others walk or sit with vulnerable students may be targets of bullying if you need any help or support please reach out to your school counselor or any member of the K-12 School counseling team You are not alone and we are definitely all here to help
