Spanish - Jamie Card

Hola! ¡Bienvenido a mi página web!
(Hello! Welcome to my web page!)

Spanish will be an invigorating class this year! We have a lot of information to cover. This year we will be focusing on our oral proficiency with the Spanish language. In other words, we will be focusing on the student’s ability to speak the language in various settings. I believe that every child can learn to speak a foreign language and will achieve his/her fullest potential throughout the school year.

The curriculum is based on the New Hampshire SAU#29 World Language Curriculum. Additionally, our focus will be on the 5 C’s of foreign language, which are part of the national standards for foreign language. These will be our focus for the school year. We will be studying each standard through speaking Spanish as much as possible. The 5 C’s include;

  • Communication
  • Communities
  • Cultures
  • Comparisons
  • Connections

To focus on oral proficiency, we will be doing numerous skits, role playing, and games. Interaction in the target language will be a key concept. I am eager to introduce you to Hispanic music, dance, and food as well.

All classes will be assessed through class participation, (attendance, notebook checks, worksheets, oral drills), homework, oral/written quizzes, projects, and oral/ written tests.

I look forward to learning all about my students this coming school year as we study Spanish. The more we study other cultures the more we learn about our own.

I have attached some links that will help you through the school year;
