French for Kids!
A Message from Marylise Reilly, French Teacher

Standards have been revised this summer. With all the World Language teachers, we have created a comprehensive curriculum K-12 with a spiral continuum from Kindergarten to High School. All benchmarks are clearly stated and defined, with a variety of activities and assessments to choose from.

This year, 5/6 students will do some research about famous French characters they are interested in and will make a final presentation with all the information they found. In addition to the expected historical figures such as Charlemagne, louis XIV and Napoleon, we have added important researchers and scientists such as Louis Pasteur and Marie Curie. Students were interested in Haute Couture fashion designers, so they will learn about contemporary and past leaders in fashion.

French remains an important part of a child’s education, and will be useful for their general knowledge. We try to make French class a fun educational experience that reinforces other subjects, and makes their horizon wider.
