Meeting Minutes for June 11, 2007

Secretary's Report: Minutes from the May 7, 2007 meeting were reviewed and accepted.
Treasurer's Report: Treasurer's Report was reviewed and accepted.
Principal's Report:
Mrs. Yoerger thanked the JDA and all school volunteers for offering their assistance this past school
year.
The Keene Teachers' Union and the Keene School Board have come to a tentative contract agreement.
The Union will vote on this contract June 12th. If the contract is approved, it may go for public vote
in August.
A public hearing will take place at the Keene High School on June 12th at 6:30 pm, regarding the
surplus in this year's school budget.
Staffing Update: Kristen King has been hired as a Kindergarten para-professional. Evan McNamara has
been hired as a tutor in the LD Collaborative. Interviews are on-going for a custodial position,
as well as for an LD Collaborative teacher position.
Teachers are in the process of creating temporary class lists for the 2007-2008 school year.
Four Special Education classes to be held at JD for 5 weeks this summer.
Project Keep will take place next school year at JD, Symonds and Franklin Schools. An information
sheet is posted on the front door of JD. More information can be received by calling the Community
Education office.
The last day of school is June 20th, with dismissal at 12:30pm.
Mrs. Yoerger will be working at JD this summer in case anyone needs to contact her.
Committee Meeting Updates:
Coffee and Crumpets for Kindergarten parents and new families on the first day of school.
Back To School BBQ to be held in August. More information to follow.
Garden Club:
A school grounds clean-up day will take place in mid-August to prepare for the beginning of the school
year. Any assistance that families can offer would be greatly appreciated. Water and snacks to be
provided. A raffle for all participants to take place. More information to follow or you may contact
Mike and Kathy Huston at 4huston@ne.rr.com.
Open Meeting:
The JDA approved spending for watermelon and popsicles for Field Day on June 19th. Grades 2-5 will
participate in field day games, while Grades K-1 will participate in separate activities.
An awards recognition gathering is scheduled for June 20th at 9:00am. Families are welcomed to come.
The School Safety Patrol will be recognized by the Keene Swampbats on June 12th with pizza and T-shirts.
Grade 5 Recognition is scheduled for June 18th at 6:00pm.
The school yearbook has been sent to press.
The strings program for Grade 3 and Grade 4 will increase to 4 days a week.
Class assignment letters will be sent home on August 10th.
The first day for the 2007-2008 school year is August 29th.
