Meeting Minutes for April 14, 2008

Present: Juli Drouin, Tracy Summers, Jen Drake-Deese, Carrie Stewart, Becky Russell, Elizabeth Huegel, Janice Ramirez, Tammi Squires, Lisa Blanchette, Sherrie Paltrineri, Patty Yoerger, Kathy Huston

Secretary's Report: Minutes from the March 10, 2008 meeting were reviewed and accepted.

Treasurer's Report: Treasurer's Report was reviewed and accepted.

Principal's Report:
Science NECAP testing for 4th grade students to take place in May. A pilot test was given last year to students.
Staff assignments for the 2008-09 school year to be determined.
Surry residents will vote this week on the Keene contract for their students to attend Keene schools. This vote will influence staff placement for next year.
At this time, there are 26 students registered for Kindergarten at JD.

 

Committee Reports:
Fundraising:
Little Caesar's pizza has been ordered and is scheduled for delivery on April 29th at 1:30pm. Information letter to be sent home.
Kristen Skahan has 1,155 Campbell's Soup labels ready to be mailed. JDA to pay for postage. 5,693 points are in the bank. Patty Yoerger to discuss at the next staff meeting how the school can use these points.

Teacher Luncheon:
Scheduled for May 7th beginning at 9:40am.
Tracy Summers will send a letter home requesting parent volunteers and will also talk with Juanita Harper regarding teacher gifts. Sherrie Paltrineri to organize food preparation and set-up.

Spirit Wear:
The spring sale of Spirit Wear has been cancelled.
5th grade shirt project will continue. Teachers and staff need to sign a template for the shirts.
The JDA will purchase extra shirts for 5th grade teachers/staff. Order will be placed in May.

Ice Cream Social:
Scheduled for May 2nd. $1.00/person charge. More information to follow.
Juli Drouin will contact local vendors for possible donations of ice cream. The JDA to purchase toppings. Paper products are in storage.

New Business:
The JDA unanimously voted to accept the following Executive Board members to two year terms: Carrie Stewart - Fundraising Chairperson, Becky Russell - Secretary, Kathy Huston - Historian.
5th grade recognition scheduled for June 19th. More information to be sent home.
JD Field Day will be scheduled during the last week of school.
A request from Symonds School to borrow the popcorn machine for a school function was approved.
Walk NH, a schoolwide walk event to promote healthy living will take place in the afternoon of June 4th. Volunteers may be needed.
Anyone interested in assisting with Kindergarten PE classes should contact Mr. Echavarria.
The June JDA meeting has been moved to June 16th at 6:15pm.

With nothing further, this meeting was adjourned. Next meeting is scheduled for May 12, 2008 at 6:15pm.
