Meeting Minutes for April 2, 2007

Secretary's Report: Minutes from the March 5, 2007 meeting were reviewed and accepted.
Treasurer's Report: The treasurer's report was reviewed and accepted.
Principal's Report:
No school on 4/13/07 due to a Professional Day. Teachers and staff will focus on math and reading curricula.
Staff assignments for 2007-2008 school year: K: Mrs. Neary, Mrs. Skinner Grade 1: Mrs. Pangonis, Mrs. Peale
Grade 2: Mrs. Katz, Mrs. LaPierre, Grade 3: Mrs. Shaffer Grade 4: Mrs. Martin, Ms. Starkey
Grade 5: Mrs. Hanna, Mrs. Mastronardi
Guest Speaker: Maureen Meyer, JD Librarian and Teacher Union Representative
Due to the recent defeat of the teachers' contract and the Keene school budget, the teachers' union has
voted to adopt Work-To-Rule. This requires teachers to perform only their contracted duties. The union is
attempting to hear and understand what the community is feeling regarding negotiations, contracts,
Work-To-Rule. Representatives are disseminating accurate information via school meetings and local radio
discussions.
Teachers will be available for parent/teacher conferences and IEP meetings, but will no longer be
volunteering for school activities, such as Circesta.
Teachers are contracted to work 1/2 hour before the start of school and 1/2 hour after school. School
curriculum work will move forward. Stipend positions are continuing as normal.
5th Ecology Camp and 5th Grade Recognition will still take place.
Para-professionals will take over Board Games, as they are scheduled to work at that time.
Negotiations between Keene Board of Education and the Teachers' Union are moving forward positively.
Focus areas include pay raises and health insurance.
It is hoped that an agreement and 2 public information sessions will take place prior to a public vote in
July. If a teachers' contract is not signed by July 15th, teachers may no longer be involved in
extra-curricular activites.
Upcoming Family Activities: (More information to follow)
Pancake Breakfast with the Easter Bunny: April 7th 8:30-10:30.
Set-up to take place Friday April 6th 4:00-6:00.
Spring Fling: April 12th. To be hosted by the 5th Grade.
Circesta: May 19th from 10:00-2:00.
Open Discussion:
Voting for 2007-2009 JDA President and Vice-President to take place during the May 7th JDA meeting.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: May 9th. More information to follow.
Moving Company show at Keene High School on April 13th at 7:30pm.
With nothing further, the meeting was adjourned. Next meeting is scheduled for May 7, 2007 at 6:15 pm.
