Meeting Minutes for March 10, 2008
Present: Carrie Stewart, Lisa Blanchette, Judy Hoffman, Juanita Harper, Becky Russell, Patty Yoerger, Juli Drouin,

Secretary's Report: Minutes from the February 11, 2008 meeting were reviewed and accepted.
Treasurer's Report: Treasurer's Report was reviewed and accepted.
Principal's Report:
The popcorn donated by the JDA for Spirit Week was greatly appreciated.
A check for approximately $37 was received from the Target Redcard program.
Liberty Mutual made a $500 donation to the 5th Grade Ecology Camp trip.
Storyteller and musician Odds Bodkin will lead an all-school assembly in April or May. The JDA unanimously voted
to donate $250, which is half of the cost.
Kindergarten registration is scheduled for March 21st at the Roosevelt School/CIRTT office located on Washington
Street.
Ecology Camp: The JDA unanimously voted to allow 5th Grade students to receive their portion of profits from the
spring fundraiser, as requested by the 5th Grade teachers. A unanimous vote was also taken to allow 4th Grade
students to do the same with money put towards their Ecology Camp. $200 designated from the JDA budget will be
given to students who still need funds. A work program may be considered for these students.
Voting on the 2008-09 school budget and warrant articles to take place March 11th. Patty Yoerger distributed a
copy of the Keene School Board press release written as a response to the KMS Best article regarding the middle
school renovation/replacement issue.
Old Business - Review of Winter Family Fun Events:
Ice Skating: This event went well. Next year's flyer to include request for families to bring milk crates.
Contra Dance: Some technical difficulties at the start of the event. Set-up to take place earlier next year.
Chairs to be placed on the perimeter of the gym for people to sit.
Book Bingo: It was suggested that something other than Skittles be used as markers.
Committee Reports:
Fundraising:
The Pepsi machine door is broken. Carrie Stewart will contact Pepsi for repair.
Little Caesar's Pizza: Flyers have gone home. Sale will end on March 24th with orders arriving on April 14th.
Lisa Blanchette will coordinate order pick-up.
Spirit Wear: Spring campaign scheduled for April 7th - April 18th with orders arriving in mid-May. Janice Ramirez
to organize 5th Grade t-shirt project. 5th Graders will purchase their own shirts. JDA to buy extras for those
students unable to afford one.
Pancake Breakfast: Set-up scheduled for the evening of March 14th. Sherrie Paltrineri will meet with Kim Chickering
to discuss use of kitchen. Janice Ramirez will talk with 5th Grade students about volunteering at this event. Any
student that helps will receive a free breakfast.
Circesta: Planning meeting to take place March 17th at 6:15pm. Information flyer to go home.
Box Tops have been sent in. $190 is anticipated.
Yearbook:
Cost of printing yearbook has increase $.50/copy. Money to be moved from JDA discretionary account to yearbook
fund.
5th Grade students to decide yearbook dedication.
In Memory page will be included to honor Marjorie Chamberlain, school crossing guard. Patty Yoerger to obtain a
picture of Marjorie for the yearbook.
Spring Fling:
5th Grade organizing this year's event and will vote on a theme. Scheduled for April 11th 6:30pm - 8:30pm.
New Business:
PTO Expo on March 19th in Marlboro, Mass. Anyone interested in attending should contact Janice Ramirez. The JDA
will pay the $10 admission price.
Judy Hoffman to research a long-term science program to be offered to students.
JDA Executive election scheduled for the April meeting. Open positions include historian, fundraising chairperson
and secretary. Anyone interested in running for a position should contact Kathy Huston. Flyer to go home with more
information.
Teacher Appreciation Week to be discussed during the April JDA meeting.
With nothing further, this meeting was adjourned. Next meeting is scheduled for April 14, 2008 at 6:15pm.
