Meeting Minutes for January 8, 2007

Secretary's Report: Minutes from the December 4, 2006 meeting were reviewed and accepted.

Treasurer's Report: The treasurer's report was reviewed and accepted.

Principal's Report:
Artist in residence program with Marcy Schepker to take place January 9th - January 19th with all JD students.
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) testing for new students and those who need to be retested will be held January 29th - February 23rd. All students grades 1-5 will be tested this spring.
Rider's Readers activity sheets are given by the bus company each week to students who ride the bus. 5th grade students are responsible for taking these sheets off of the bus.
Yoga Kids: a grant has been received through the work of Mrs. Slason for JD to purchase several Yoga Kits for students in grades K-2. The school board needs to accept this grant before the money can be used.
Winter school rules to be posted in the next newsletter. Students who want to play in the snow must have snowpants, coat, mittens, boots and a hat.
Keene School District budget meetings are on-going. A public information session on the budget and warrant articles will be held at the high school on January 16th. A public vote to amend the budget to take place at the high school on February 10th. More information in the Sentinel and school newsletter.
Mrs. Yoerger presented JD's current budget and a proposed budget for the 2007-2008 school year to the finance committee at the last budget meeting. She will attend the next meeting this Saturday.

Activity Nights:
Book Bingo: January 19th 6:30-8:00. Boxes are in each pod for donations of books in new or good condition. Books of all reading levels are welcomed.

Ice Skating: February 10th 4:00-6:00 at the Cheshire Ice Arena. Skating is free; however there is a $3.00 charge for skate rentals, if needed.

Ice Cream Social: March 23rd. Time to be announced.

Circesta: May 19th 10:00-2:00. Notice for volunteers will be sent home.

Open Discussion:
Holiday baskets went to 9 JD families in need. Thank you to all families who donated supplies. A special thank you to the Gavin family, Janice Ramirez and Judy Hoffman for offering extra support.
The JDA Executive Committee and Mrs.Yoerger reviewed the playground inspection to create a course of action. The JDA will vote on whether or not to spend $1500 to purchase a new cargo net at the February 5th meeting.
Nestle Go Play Program to begin. Boxes will be placed in the school to collect Nestle water bottle labels. Points from these labels can be earned for playground equipment.

With nothing further, the meeting was adjourned.

Next meeting is scheduled for February 5, 2007 at 6:15 pm.
