The Starbucks Foundation offers two grant programs. One is called the Power of Literacy the other, Leaders in Diversity. The priorities of the foundation include serving youth 8 -18 who are high-risk and low income with non-traditional learning opportunities to improve their lives through increased literacy and respect for diversity.

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) Program

Presidential Awards for Excellence in Math and Science

 

In 1983, in an effort to recognize outstanding math and science teachers, the White House established The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) Program. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the program identifies outstanding mathematics and science teachers in each US State. The competition alternates each year between K- 6 teachers and teachers in grades 7 - 12.

Toshiba America Foundation

for K-12 teachers, in either grades K- 6 or 7 - 12.

Amounts up to $1,000.
Must advance science and math teaching units, take place during the school day, be completed by May 1, 2005, must cover at least 3 class sessions. Will not cover any hardware, AV equipment, filed trips. Must be used for purchasing project material for student use, restricted to use in the applicant teacher’s classroom.

Deadline for grants less than $5,000 on a rolling basis, for grants over $5,000 please check the submission guidelines.
Must improve classroom teaching and learning in science and mathematics. Preference to projects that “ enable students to frame their own scientific questions, and incorporate community partners”.
